Just as it's folly to try to hype a Bantam scoring star as the next Sidney Crosby or Wayne Gretzky, it's simply far too early to damn an entire class of players- half of whom won't even be on anyone's radar until next year. However, an article in the THN Draft Preview did just that. That said, the prairies are still producing some of the top talent in the country - and 2011 will be no different.

The subject of supplementary discipline and just what constitutes a penalty in the playoffs are hot topics right now.  Before I get started here, I have to say that I have the utmost respect for the NHL and the great job the officiating crews do consistently applying the rules game in and game out (no really, I HAVE to say that or Gary Bettman will fine me $20).  I truly believe the NHL’s Commissar of Crime, Colin Campbell is in a no win situation and is trying his best to be consistent and fair.

The Sens have signed top d-man prospect Erik Karlsson to an entry-level deal. There is little doubt that he is NHL ready and he is precisely the puck-moving rearguard that they need. To start, I can see a 40-point season right off the hop. Karlsson is ranked 87th on my Prospects List.  Thanks to letnry [...]

He has the potential to be the next Niklas Backstrom so stay tuned.  Info on the Fantasy Prospects Report, as advertised on page 34 [...]

The first round of the Western Conference playoffs is over as another two Western Conference teams were ousted in two very entertaining six games series. Similar to last week we’ll do a quick assessment of their players with fantasy significance and take a look at what could be in store for them next season.

Sami Salo will not play in Game 3 through due to a lower body injury. Ossi Vaananen will take his spot. Pavol Demitra is questionable (and I actually think doubtful) for Game 3. Taylor Pyatt was back in practice and will probably take Demitra's spot in the lineup. Brian Rafalski and Kris Draper are out for tonight. Markus [...]
