Spacek – don’t do it! June 23, 2009

Kari Ramo has confirmed that he has signed with Avangaard Omsk of the KHL.

Congrats to Yzerman, Hull, Leetch and Robitaille for getting into the HHOF. Mogilny also deserves it, but I'm sure he'll get there eventually.

Puck Daddy discusses today's meeting between TB owners Len Barrie and Oren Koules and Gary Bettman. The two owners are not really on speaking terms and Bettman is there to decide which one of them can make decisions for the team.

According to a Russian website, goalie Karri Ramo has signed to play in the KHL next season. Thanks to Nordic Crusaders in the forum for the link. This news opens up a spot for Riku Helenius to become the backup.

The Sabres are reportedly after re-signing Jaroslav Spacek. While they do need a PP QB and he is coming off a career high of 45 points, you have to look at when he has those big years. In his contract year he had 43 points – then he had 21 and 32. Then, oops, another contract year – 45 points. Do GM's pay attention to this?

LA prospect Dany Roussin has signed to play in Germany next campaign. He was pretty much a Euro/AHL player going forward anyway, but just an FYI.

If Mike Komisarek does indeed become a UFA, I think in the right role he could become a 35-point player and one of the best two-way defensemen in the game. He already has PIM value, but the points will improve.

PIT GM Ray Shero told the Gazette that he does not intend to re-sign all of his free agents. This only makes sense, as Bill Guerin, Ruslan Fedotenko, Petr Sykora, Miroslav Satan, Mike Zigomanis and Craig Adams, defensemen Rob Scuderi, Hal Gill and Philippe Boucher and goalie Mathieu Garon are set for UFA status. Guerin, Fedotenko, Zigomanis and Scuderi are his targets, and possibly Adams.

Braydon Coburn underwent hip surgery yesterday. He will need eight weeks to fully recover. Apparent, this surgery was successful thank goodness.

Japers' Rink prints an excerpt from Sovietsky Sport interview Simeon Varlamov. Here's what he says about a KHL contract offer: "I saw this surprising bit of information on the internet, and I'm ready to refute it. I did not have negotiations with the leadership of Lokomotiv. I can't even imagine who put out this rumor."
