Angus here, haven’t posted any ramblings in a while!

Check out some DobberHockey wallpapers I put together here.

Sergei Shirokov has been dazzling at the Canucks informal skates so far. He will be an interesting name to watch once the real camp kicks off (he is also participating in the rookie camp starting this Monday).

Rob Schremp signed a two-way contract with the Oilers yesterday. There are more than a few scouts who wonder about his ability to play in the top six in the NHL and there are more than a few media analysts who feel he can. Frankly, I’d go with the scouts and assume he cannot. But with a new coach in Edmonton, you never know. Get out your crystal ball! If he sticks and makes an early impact, watch him rocket up my rankings.

Speaking of rankings, I want to give you a sneak peek at what Arbuthnot has planned in Frozen Pool (the Fantasy Tools section found on the tab at the top, or the left nav). He wants to create player profiles which draw from my rankings – both in the present as well as historically. Picture clicking on a stock in the stock market and a chart appears with it’s share price over the last three months in graph form. Now picture that on a hockey player using my monthly rankings over the last seven years or so. Nice, eh?

Anaheim has signed Steve Eminger to a two-year contract. After last season’s inconsistency, I’m surprised he got decent guaranteed money like that. I still believe Luca Sbisa will make this team, but this signing puts that at risk. Sbisa, Festerling, Salcido and maybe Mikkelson will battle for the sixth spot, assuming Sheldon Brookbank will be the No.7.

I get some great columns on this site, but it’s not often I get one that completely changes my thinking on something. Stu McDonald’s column today did that very thing. It is a must-read.

Claude Julien was signed to an extension by the Bruins.

Some more training camp invites:
Dan Hinote (San Jose)
Shawn Bates (Colorado)
Mike McKenna (New Jersey)
Dan Cloutier (Detroit)

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
