Yashin's agent Mark Gandler told a Russian paper that they are negotiating with one NHL team - the Islanders. I'm not sure if he is being serious or not, but the hilarity of a Yashin to Long Island return would know no bounds. Would he get paid more than he currently is NOT to [...]

Apologies regarding Stamkos info - I checked out the CBA this morning and it looks like the deal takes up one year of his UFA eligibility (hence the NMC in the last year). Thanks for the heads up to those who corrected me.   The Rangers officially inked Brandon Dubinsky to a four-year deal. [...]

Pacioretty

(Part One)

Going stride for stride with my Western Conference counterpart, I am providing an Eastern Conference version of Ryan Ma’s Earmarked for Success. As Ryan has cautioned, please do not fret over the line combinations. We are merely separating the top-six players from the bottom-six on each team, which can be applied to potential fantasy success for the upcoming season. Top-six players obviously get the lion’s share of ice time, both at even strength and on the power play.

Teddy Purcell has signed a two-year deal with the Lightning worth nearly $2.4 million cap hit. That kind of money, plus his playoff play, will keep him on the second line now.   As expected, the Red Wings have signed Ty Conklin. Attention Howard owners - Conklin is more of a threat to steal [...]

Fantastic hire by the Devils in coach Peter DeBoer. Fits their system perfectly. From what I've seen, similar to Lemaire. The team will be closer to how they were in the last half of last season as opposed to the first half.   It's done. Steven Stamkos has signed for five years, cap hit [...]

Enroth

Over the past week, very little free agent goalie movement took place. But this was an expected occurrence, as spots get filled quickly and many goalies that had fantasy value last season turn up homeless. Such is the situation currently facing goalies like Ray Emery, Marty Turco and Pascale Leclaire, along with some solid AHL goalies like Tyler Weiman and Mike Brodeur.

Quick

Four years ago, the Los Angeles Kings' net minding situation was a mess. They used six different goaltenders in the 2007/08 season: Jason LaBarbera, Jean Sebastien Aubin, Erik Ersberg, Dan Cloutier, Jonathan Bernier, Jonathan Quick and Daniel Taylor. Even though Quick was handed the starting job the following season and posted respectable numbers (21-18-2, 2.46 GAA and .914 SV%), it seemed that Bernier was considered the franchise's goalie of the future.

So the airline Jet Blue loses the Stanley Cup, and then makes the Cup’s escort go through the regular line with it when he finally gets it back. Nathan Horton, meanwhile, attends the Cup parade in his hometown without the Cup! In Jet Blue’s defense, the Cup guy arrived at the airport later than [...]
