Prospects to Avoid

Huberdeau

Draft time is just around the corner. Many of you will be looking to draft prospects that can produce right now and most of you will be looking to stock up on players that will produce in a season or two. Seven prospects will be examined this week, three of whom are draftable, but won't produce this season. The other four are to be avoided completely for upcoming fantasy drafts and have a lot to prove before they are considered legitimate prospects again.

Some exciting news down the pipe today - we have partnered up with the Draft Buddy to bring you Dobber's Draft Buddy App for the iPhone.   The app ranks players according to Dobber's projections, and you can update and change your list with each pick in real time during the draft.   Data [...]

An interview with Peter Mueller by Adrian Dater. Mueller has so much offensive upside, I really hope he can get the concussion issues behind him. He’d likely skate on the top unit with Duchene and Hejduk/Jones.   I’d put Landeskog with Stastny. Colorado’s top six has the potential to be pretty good, but aside [...]

Right around the middle of the season, I love looking back at one-year drafts and seeing who went where. There are always players who fall much further than they should and the more you can snag, the better your team will perform. Since many draft rankings are based on the prior year’s performance, it’s easy to lose names in the draft day madness. Here are some Eastern Conference picks that might be ranked lower than they should.

I have done some recent interviews with a few of my favourite sites– Fear the Fin, the Copper & Blue, and RLD Hockey. Check ‘em out.   Fantasy Guide was updated yesterday. The Goalie Rankings will be updated as soon as Goalie Post subscriptions go on sale – which should be by the end [...]

The Ultimate Fantasy Pool – Vegas Edition Part II

Swingers

In a little over two weeks, I’ll be heading off to Vegas for some fun. One reason I am heading down is to meet up with several members of the Ultimate Fantasy Pool – a keeper league that uses head-to-head scoring. I have been in the league for two years now, and it features some stiff competition (all of our league members read this site, and one is among the regular columnists).

Over the next few weeks, I am going to introduce the league and each of the 12 teams to the DobberHockey readers. The five teams today – The Crosby Show (myself), Hextall’s Hackers (Tim), Legion (Jeff), the Great Whites (Cory), and Wookie Sandwich (Scott).

Fantasy Guide was updated yesterday. The Goalie Rankings will be updated as soon as Goalie Post subscriptions go on sale – which should be by the end of this week or Monday at the latest.   My offseason fantasy look at the Devils, Isles, Rangers, Sens and Flyers over at The Hockey News.   [...]

Forget Me Not (West 2011)

Moss

Following the last couple of years, here’s a list of some of the Western Conference underachieving veterans from last season. Many of them underachieved or were simply injured, which resulted in lower than normal overall numbers for 2010-11. Most pool providers generally base their draft rankings on the previous year’s stats, which could lead many of the following players to be severely undervalued heading into this season. Make sure you make a mental note of these players and don’t fall into the trap of undervaluing them like some of your competitors might on draft day.

In fiddling with the new shop, we accidentally disable the forum briefly. Sorry about that! It said "Do Not Press Button" and I couldn't resist.   Fantasy Guide update coming later today…remember, I update all summer long, including projections and new content.   Craig Adams underwent an unsuccessful appendectomy. His life is grave danger. [...]
