There are just three weeks to go in the fantasy hockey season. We do want to remind people of the potential AlexRadulov return. Please check your leagues to see about availability but ESPN definitely has him in their database.Anyway, most leagues continue their playoffs this week and it is time to go “Between The Lines” once again.

BREAKING: Alexander Radulov has reportedly reached an agreement (note - link updated again at 9am ET) with his KHL club to be released from the contract there. Barry Trotz: “I don’t expect him to play against the Edmonton Oilers (Tuesday) but I’d like to him in Pittsburgh (Thursday).” I’m going to break down the [...]

Hail Cesare!

Hail Cesare!

Jason Farris, author of Behind the Moves, and currently a member of the front office for the Dallas Stars, has written a number of hockey books. Behind the Moves, a book I reviewed last fall, presents the reader with an in-depth look at the history and current status of hockey’s general managers. One of Jason’s first books, Hail Cesare!, describes the evolution of goaltending in the 1960’s and 70’s through the eyes and mask of goaltender Cesare Maniago.

Things are heating up in the polls as we close in on deciding who the best fantasy player is - only 12 left standing...

Apparently there are a ton of fun things you can do with chalk. One thing that isn’t much fun is going chalk in a bracket tournament. In that regard you guys are total bores (at least this round anyway). After the previous round of polls yielded two upsets you guys decided to go straight chalk in the first half of the Sweet Sixteen. I am not complaining though, I just love the irony that a “fantasy” game could yield such unimaginative results.

State of the Toronto Maple Leafs

Brian Burke - the best man for the job in Toronto - The worst franchise that I have ever seen was the 2008-09 version of the Toronto Maple Leafs. They had little in the way of draft picks, their farm system was disgusting, and their pro team was filled with untradeable contracts. There wasn’t one franchise in the NHL that I would swap for the Leafs. They were horrible in every sense of the word.

Through eight March games, Jeff Carter has a point-per-game average with the Kings. Dustin Penner had a couple of points this evening against the Preds, but has just 16 this season. 16.   Pavel Datsyuk returned for the Wings and scored, although his team still fell 3-2 to the Sharks in overtime. Valtteri [...]

Beyond the Elite Names (Part I)

Prospects

The Dean’s List has already previewed the top offensive forwards available for the upcoming 2012 NHL draft class and your fantasy prospect drafts but now it is time to turn our focus to a few player names creeping up the ranks.  Examine the past draft boards two, three or four years later and you will certainly find a few names that leave you asking, “how was that player not selected higher?

The list contains several current NHL star players highlighted by Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Claude Giroux, Shea Weber, Paul Statsny and Milan Lucic to name a few.  The 2012 draft class will be no different and it’s important to introduce the readers to potential names that could be occupying future fantasy rosters in the near future.  Lets face it, only a select few will have the opportunity to draft the Yakupovs, Grigorenkos, Dumbas and Galchenyuks in your upcoming fantasy drafts, so in Beyond the Elite Names (Part 1) TDL familiarizes the readers with talented players not receiving enough attention but should still become fantasy relevant.

Happy early St. Patrick's Day to all those real Irish people out there (as well as the rest of you). May your beers be cold and never ending! Good afternoon poolies! As divisional and conference races only begin to increasingly intensify in the coming days and weeks, we can be sure for yet another fun filled slate this Saturday evening. There are several close-to-call matchups, but I’ll do my best to guide you through them. The last few weeks I’ve been splitting my picks. So-so I suppose, but if my ‘slump’ is running off at a .500 clip, then I suppose it’s not the worst vibe to be on for a turnaround week, where I aim to hit at a high percentage once more.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get to the six pack.
