Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

John Klingberg – A lower-body injury has kept him sidelined since November 25th. He skated with the team on Tuesday and could be an option against the Sharks on Friday.

Eric ComrieThe Sabres netminder recently took part in some very light skating, but he remains week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Frederik AndersenHas been skating on his own recently but didn't travel out west for the team's recent road trip. There weren't any updates on his status while the team was on the road, but hopefully we'll hear something now that they've returned home. A lower-body injury has kept Andersen sidelined since November 6th and there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Jonathan ToewsChicago's captain missed Tuesday's dance with the Devils due to an illness. Players don't usually miss too much game time when they're sick, so I'd expect Toews to suit up for Chicago's next game, scheduled on Friday against the Jets.

Petr MrazekThe Blackhawks netminder suffered a groin injury during Saturday's game against the Rangers. He was placed on Injured Reserve, which requires a mandatory week-long absence, so he won't be available for Friday's game against Winnipeg. This groin injury is reportedly unrelated to the one he just returned from, but there's cause for concern because groin injuries kept him sidelined for three different stretches last season – and this is already the second time it's happened this season.

Tyler JohnsonSuffered an ankle sprain on October 25th and seemed to be nearing a return about three weeks later. Unfortunately, he stopped making progress recently and is still limping around, with no timetable for his return.

Alex StalockIt sounds like Stalock has been progressing well recently. He's been in concussion protocol since November 1st, experiencing some good days and some bad days. Recovering from a concussion is usually an unpredictable process that requires day-to-day monitoring, so there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Nathan MacKinnonColorado's star center will be sidelined for four weeks with an upper-body injury. The Avalanche have been decimated by injuries lately, so it's hard to predict what exactly their lines will look like over the next few games. However, it's worth mentioning that Alex Newhook – the team's 16th overall pick from 2019 – skated over 20 minutes in each of his last two outings. That represents a significant increase from the 13-15 minutes he'd been seeing earlier in the season. Newhook should continue seeing an expanded role while MacKinnon is sidelined.

Artturi LehkonenThe 27-year-old winger is officially day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He was skating in a non-contact sweater on Wednesday morning, so I wouldn't expect him to play against the Bruins on Wednesday night.

Josh MansonThe Avalanche defenseman is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Valeri Nichushkin – The Avalanche forward has been skating recently and could return to the lineup very soon. On November 8th, it was announced Nichushkin would be sidelined for a month after having ankle surgery. That timetable has just about run its course. Although he isn't expected to play against Boston on Wednesday, he could return shortly afterwards.

Gabriel LandeskogColorado's captain has been skating on his own recently. It's been about seven weeks since he had knee surgery – a procedure which came with a 12-week recovery timeline. Although it's encouraging to see him back on the ice, he isn't expected to return until mid-January.

Jake BeanHad surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and will be sidelined for four-to-six months.

Adam BoqvistOn October 26th, the team announced that Boqvist would be sidelined for six weeks because of a broken foot. That timeline has just run its course, but it sounds like he'll be out longer than originally anticipated. Although he's been walking again, he hasn't been seen skating recently.

Jakub VoracekThe Blue Jackets forward is still feeling symptoms from a concussion suffered on November 4th, when he was hit by a high stick during the Global Series in Finland. He isn't expected to return any time soon and there's only a slim chance he returns this season.

Tyler BertuzziWas injured during Wednesday's game against the Sabres after a shot hit his hand. He had surgery to treat the injury and will be sidelined for the next six weeks.

Zach HymanSat out of Sunday's practice as he took a maintenance day – something players often do in order to rest minor injuries that build up over the course of a season. He ended up missing Monday's clash with the Capitals due to an undisclosed injury. As I write this, his status for Wednesday's game against the Coyotes remains up in the air.

Anton Lundell – Is dealing with an upper-body injury that isn't expected to keep him sidelined long term. After putting up an impressive 56-point pace during his rookie campaign, he's pacing for just 44 points early in his sophomore season.

Aleksander BarkovHas been skating recently and is reportedly nearing a return. He may even be an option against the Red Wings on Thursday. Barkov has missed Florida's last six games due to a non-COVID illness, but has been feeling much better lately.

Ryan HartmanThe 28-year-old forward has been on the shelf with an upper-body injury since November 1st. Although he's been skating on his own recently, he won't join the team as they travel through Western Canada. That means he'll miss at least three more games, starting with Wednesday's clash against Calgary.

David SavardThe Canadiens' defenseman is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He ranks second in blocked shots across the league, posting 74 blocks through 24 appearances.

Sean MonahanLeft Monday's game against Vancouver due to a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated at some point in the next few days. Prior to leaving Monday's game, he'd been seen wearing a walking boot, so he'd clearly been playing through something.

Ryan McDonaghAn upper-body injury will keep the 33-year-old defenseman sidelined for two-to-four weeks.

Mackenzie BlackwoodHas been practicing with the team recently, a good sign he'll be ready to return soon. On November 8th, the team announced he would miss three to six weeks due to an MCL sprain. Four weeks later, it's reasonable to expect his return is imminent. Blackwood will probably take on a backup role this season since Vitek Vanecek has posted excellent numbers as the team's starter, sporting a 2.10 GAA and .922 save percentage over 17 games.

Ondrej PalatHas been skating and progressing well but there's still another four to six weeks left in the original eight to 10-week recovery timetable that came with his groin surgery.

Filip ChytilIs officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury but was expected to travel to Vegas with the team, so he may be an option for Wednesday's game against the Golden Knights.

Adam PelechLeft Tuesday's game against the Blues after he was hit into the boards. Pelech was holding his head and looking dazed afterwards, so there's concern he suffered a concussion on the play. Coach Lane Lambert didn't have any updates on Pelech's status after the game.

James van RiemsdykWill return to the lineup on Wednesday against Washington. JVR had been sidelined for the past six weeks, recovering from surgery to repair a broken finger.

Cam Atkinson Has been practicing with the team recently. Although he's close to a return, he needs to make a little more progress before he's at a level where he can help the team. Atkinson hasn't played yet this season, dealing with a mysterious injury that was initially labelled a day-to-day issue. He was week-to-week for a while but is now back to being day-to-day.

Ryan EllisGM Chuck Fletcher recently confirmed that Ellis would not play this season. He's dealing with complex multilayered injuries, as we discussed in our first Injury Ward article of the campaign.

Kris LetangHas been skating on his own recently but remains out indefinitely after suffering a stroke last Monday. With Letang sidelined, Jeff Petry has been skating on Pittsburgh's top power-play unit.

James ReimerRecently suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a lower-body injury but seems to be doing better now, seeing as he was able to skate on Tuesday. Reimer is officially day-to-day and hopes to be available against the Ducks on Friday or against the Coyotes next Tuesday.

Torey KrugMissed Tuesday's game against the Islanders due to an upper-body injury. He's still being evaluated to determine the severity of the injury, as well as how long it's expected to keep him sidelined.

Pavel BuchnevichA lower-body injury caused him to miss Tuesday's game against the Islanders. He's currently being evaluated, so it may be a few days before we get an update on his status.

Thatcher DemkoThe Canucks netminder will be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. 27-year-old Spencer Martin is expected to see more action while Demko is sidelined. Although Martin sports an impressive 7-2-1 record, his 3.37 GAA and .892 save percentage leave a lot to be desired.

Jack Eichel – The Golden Knights' star forward is officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Although he didn't play against the Bruins on Monday, he was a game-time decision – which suggests the injury isn't too serious and he may be back soon. As I write this, Eichel's status for Wednesday's game against the Rangers remains up in the air.

Alex PietrangeloHas been sidelined since November 26th due to personal reasons.

Darcy KuemperThe Capitals' netminder is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He won't be available against the Flyers on Wednesday as Charlie Lindgren is expected to start.

Martin Fehervary – Is on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury and won't be eligible to play against the Flyers on Wednesday or the Kraken on Friday.

Dmitry OrlovThe Capitals' defenseman is dealing with a lower-body injury that's been difficult to identify and treat. The injury has lingered longer than originally anticipated as Orlov has now been sidelined for a month. He seems to be trending in a positive direction lately, so although there's no concrete table for his return, there's still hope he'll be back soon.
