Capped: The Stretch Run for Sharangovich, Drouin, Zegras, and Nedeljkovic

Hello and welcome back in to all my Cap-Friendlies out there. Fantasy playoffs and championships are going on right now and whether your league wraps up this week or next, I wanted to give some shine to some players that could find themselves in good spots here in the short-term. These are players that have a reasonable AAV to add for those in salary leagues, and if not, there's still value in keeper or regular draft leagues. Let's be honest here too, the guys out there with higher AAV's are either the elite stars in the NHL, or a bad contract that you don't want to find yourself taking on, so somewhere in the middle here is perfect.

Yegor Sharangovich – C/LW/RW – Calgary – 25 years old

Contract: $3.1M – Two years remaining

GP          G             A             PTS         PPP        TOI         PPTOI    SOG       HIT         BKS

74           29           25           55           15           17:09     2:19        160         11           45

I love Yegor Sharangovich coming up here next week and it's completely schedule related. Next week the Flames will see the Sharks, Ducks and Coyotes, three teams that could have a top three pick in this upcoming draft, if not the number one pick. Right now, Sharangovich is skating on the Flames third line, which for fantasy we don't usually target, but in weaker matchups against bottom-six of the opposing team I don't mind taking a player off of a third line here. The nice bit here too though is that although Sharangovich is bottom six at even strength, he does see top power play time for Calgary giving him a potential boost in offense. Depending on what type of league you're in as well, he may be eligible for different position spots making him easy to navigate moving around your roster. This is a player that is going to be in an excellent spot to contribute coming up.

Jonathan Drouin – LW/RW – Colorado – 29 years old

Contract: $825K – Upcoming UFA

GP          G             A             PTS         PPP        TOI         PPTOI    SOG       HIT         BKS

72           15           33           48           18           17:58     3:44        112         39           29

I never thought I would find myself writing up Jonathan Drouin as a player to target in fantasy playoffs, but here we are. I can say though that it's guys like Drouin that you'd never expect to help your fantasy club two weeks ago, now become a player that's added to your watch list. Drouin has been good for Colorado lately and he's two things – Cheap to add, and skates next to Nathan MacKinnon at even strength and on the man advantage. The only thing that could potentially throw a wrench into this plan would be if Valeri Nischuskin gets back into the lineup but good news for us is that we will know if he will be healthy enough to suit up by this weekend at the latest once Colorado returns from their three-game road trip.

Trevor Zegras – C/LW – Anaheim – 23 years old

Contract: $5.75M – Two years remaining

This one might be a bit of a stretch here, so this might be more of an add for those out there that could be potentially out of the playoff mix, but depending on where you finish in your league determines next season's draft order. Trevor Zegras returned to the Ducks lineup and I'm not sure that news got too far out there in the NHL world because, well it's the Ducks. Regardless of what you think of Zegras as a prospect, there have been signs at times that he can be a productive NHLer and given that he skated over 19 minutes in his last game, to me, means that the Ducks are going to look to him to replicate that ice time for the rest of the regular season. I get it, adding someone from the Ducks might not be a popular play but there could be some value here.

Alex Nedeljkovic– G – Pittsburgh – 28 years old

Contract: $1.5M– Upcoming UFA

GP          W           GAA       SV%       QS%       SO

31           14          2.84      0.906    .538       1

I have to add a goaltender here and I'm going to go with Alex Nedeljkovic, the people's #1 starter for the Penguins. Really though, I don't think we're talking enough that this is a goaltender that has started in nine of the Penguins' last 10 games and recently has carried a four quality in a row for this club. The upcoming matchups for him might not be as advantageous as we'd want to see with a game against Tampa coming later this week followed by games vs Toronto and Boston next week, but I thought that Nedeljkovic might get shelled in his last start vs the Rangers but ended up looking good in net. If you're in a league that starts more than one goaltender, he makes a good addition, and for those that start one but balancing injuries, Nedeljkovic might be what you need to continue on in playoffs.
