DFS Tuesday: Leafs/Bruins Matchup; Colorado’s Top Options; Demko Returning

Ahoy, to all my DFS peoples out there! I meant to play last night for the four gamers but didn't have time to 100% put thought into a roster…might have been for the best as I don't think I would have gotten down to the Predators third line to play Matthew Wood. Tonight, will not be the case of missing a lineup as I like this slate tonight. We got some great matchups, and I enjoy the slates where the start times aren't something like seven games start at 6 pm CST, and then one at 9 pm, everything is nice and spread out for us.
Slate Preview
Toronto
Toronto is going up against the Bruins tonight in what might be my favorite matchup in hockey right now. I watched the Leafs last game against Carolina and wonder if Toronto let that one slip away? All of the Toronto goals took place right in front of the net and have interest in them going up against this Boston club that is allowing around three goals per game at even strength. For me, the Toronto top six is in a good spot and don't mind mixing and matching a stack with Auston Matthews and William Nylander. It's not a bad power play spot either, with Boston leading the league in minor penalties drawn. With that, you can full on power play stack Toronto tonight (or really any night), and I think that's fine as the Leafs are a popular play on most slates, so going ahead and getting over the field on them might not be a bad call. For me in my single entry I'm considering them and to be honest with you all, I like this slate so much that I may move up to multiple entry as there's so many intriguing spots. We're in for a good night of puck!
Colorado
I did not watch the Colorado nine-goal game out against the Oilers, but did watch them on Sunday against the Canucks…needless to say I haven interest in what may be the best team in the NHL right now. The issue with playing Colorado is what it's always been and that's price as this stack gets expensive quickly as Nathan MacKinnon alone is $9,500 and adding Cale Makar into the mix ups the tab another $8,300. Fear not though friends, we can make this stack work as there's some dance partners out there tonight. One option would be to add in some cheaper Capitals that are spread across their top six, but another that I like maybe more than that would be to fit them in with the Montreal third line who have all been playing well and in a decent matchup of their own against LA at home. If you were to put these stacks together, you'd have around $8K left in salary for goaltending and that opens you up to either spend up in net or on the blueline. I'm strongly considering Colorado here, with the only pause I have is that I remember watching these two club's matchups last season and while Colado won each matchup with 4-3, 4-2, 4-2 results, they were closer than I think the scores led on. Still, if the top line can get going then that puts you on a good path to victory tonight as I think most players are going to have a one-off MacKinnon and build from there, to where you can full stack this club plus Cale Makar and have options for the rest of your stack.
Winnipeg versus Vancouver
I told you all that I rarely game stack, yet here I am again recommending a potential spot to do it. I watched Vancouver on Sunday night and parts of Winnipeg last week…this game could become a track meet really fast and I am here for it. Starting with Winnipeg, they are going to see a Vancouver club missing Thatcher Demko in net, and we saw enough of the Kevin Lankinen show last season to where I have no issues going up against him. This all changes if Demko gets the start, of course, but as things stand right now, I am fine going up and playing the Winnipeg top-line. The price is the only issue I have, but for a straight game stack I can get bits and pieces of the Canucks depth to go along with them
If you favor the Vancouver side, yes, Connor Hellebuyck is a tough ask to go up against, but this is a Winnipeg team that in front of him has been leaky defensively. While Josh Morrissey is still good defensively, the pairing of him and Dylan Dimelo have a fairly high expected goals against, and that in part might be because of how much the forward grouping along with them has allowed, as the Jets top line is sitting at 10.5 expected goals against. I don't think you'd necessarily need to go up and play the Vancouver top line as well here tonight as Brock Boeser and Kiefer Sherwood have been good as a pair so far and even the third line got on the board on Sunday and is in play if you need to save salary and drop to Drew O'Connor and Jake DeBrusk.
Defensemen
Cale Makar is at the top of the board tonight at $8,300 and I have interest in playing him with whatever I decide to do with Colorado tonight. I don't mind Quinn Hughes at all either at $6,700 as he looks to me to be healthy and is skating and generating offense excellent for the Canucks. Brandon Montour at $5,800 is fine as a one off for me as I can't see myself getting into much on the Seattle side, and I don't mind John Carlson right below him at $5,600. I think Rasmus Anderson priced at $4,300 is good for him as he can add blocks to his offensive upside, as he's someone that I'm circling tonight. For a cheaper defenseman tonight two names stick out to me and that's Oliver Ekman-Larsson at $3,500 who will run the Leafs top powerplay and Shakir Mukhamadulin at $2,500 for the Sharks. He's fluctuated with his minutes, but if he can get around 15 or so, then that price suits us perfectly.
Goalies
If you're spending up in net and can get to Colorado at $8,400, I'm all on board for that, but for me my sights are in the mid $7k range. If Thatcher Demko starts, I can get behind playing him at $7,400 and to me, Logan Thompson is also in play at $7,200. If you're not playing Colorado tonight, then Lukas Dostal at $7k is a name that keeps coming up for me. He has won his last six-games with four quality starts and will most certainly see plenty of volume in net.
That's it for now, best of luck tonight everybody!
