Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, everyone. Welcome back to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday and Sunday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always, I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.

Jack Hughes / New Jersey Devils – Hughes is expected to miss about two months following finger surgery. He reportedly cut his hand on broken glass at a team dinner on Thursday. I’m not even really sure what to say about it, except that I’m sorry to all of his owners. It's really just clockwork at this point for the fella.

Brandon Hagel / Tampa Bay Lightning – Hagel (undisclosed) was not available for Saturday’s game against Florida. Hagel has been sticking with it this year, still toiling away on the second line and is on pace for 72 points over a full 82 games. It’s not the 1.1 points per game he put up last year, but the power play in Tampa has been woeful as of late and it’s affecting Brayden Point more than anyone, so you’ll take that 0.88 points per game, and you’ll like it! (43-point pace for Brayden, yikes).

Brady Tkachuk / Ottawa Senators – Tkachuk (thumb) skated Friday and will join the Senators on their upcoming seven-game road trip, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes’ official site reports. Brady is sorely missed by the Sens but have no fear, the bangers league unicorn is firmly on his way back. Brady only played in three games prior to his injury but he posted 3 assists (all in his first game), 11 hits(!), 10 shots, and four PIM.

John Carlson / Washington Capitals – Carlson (upper body) missed the Caps dust up against New Jersey on Saturday, resulting in Jakob Chychrun logging 28:22 of ice time. Carlson was seen this morning at the Capitals optional skate in a regular practice jersey, so he may not be long on the injury list. He’s been a stud as of late, with seven points in his last five outings.

Thomas Harley / Dallas Stars – Harley (lower body) didn’t suit up Saturday versus the Flyers, and the team added that he is week-to-week with a lower-body. Harley has had a pretty rough go of it this year, with most of his numbers crumbling compared to the last two seasons. This includes his shot volume which is down a full shot per game from last season, which is now at a paltry 1.2 per game. He had a great start to the year too with six points through his first four games. Unfortunately for him, Miro Heiskanen is having a pretty great year ahead of him on the depth chart and doesn’t look to be conceding any power play time soon.

Carter Hart / Vegas Golden Knights – Hart (suspension) was assigned to AHL Henderson on Saturday for a conditioning loan. Not much to say about Hart's imminent return to the league, but he definitely has a chance to be a solid roster piece off of waivers if you’re in need. Hart has 96 wins and 93 losses over the course of his career with a .906 save percentage to go with it.

Thomas Chabot / Ottawa Senators – Chabot (upper body) is expected to miss two weeks of action, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reported on Thursday. Chabot is a pretty good fourth defenseman on your rosters, even if he’s ultimately blocked by Jake Sanderson's rise through the ranks.

Jared McCann / Seattle Kraken – McCann (lower body) participated in Saturday’s morning skate and is making progress, Alison Lukan of the Kraken Hockey Network reported. Good news for my favorite Kraken player, aside from Jordan Eberle (and pretty much the only one worth drafting out of their forward group in my opinion). A little side note: I have the puck that Eberle scored his second NHL goal with which was a nasty shorty against San Jose, from when I was a rink rat (shovel kid) during the decade of darkness in Edmonton. Fun times.

Boone Jenner / Columbus Blue Jackets – Jenner (upper body) is set for a stint on the sidelines after head coach Dean Evason told reporters Thursday, “It’s not short term,” Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports. Really crappy news for a guy who has had a lot of injury history, but has always produced well when in the lineup.

Alex Newhook / Montreal Canadiens – Newhook had surgery to repair a fractured ankle Friday and will be sidelined for four months. From a bad week on the ice for Montreal who have lost five of the last six, to worse with this news. Newhook has reached new heights this season alongside Ivan Demidov at even strength which has been a huge boon, jumping from 0.32 points per game last year to 0.71 so far this year.

Kirby Dach / Montreal Canadiens – Speaking of the Habs, some Sunday morning breaking news from the team: Dach is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks with a fractured foot. Dach reportedly fractured his right foot while blocking a shot. A Certified Band-Aid Boy, Dach has played 70 games in a season just once since his NHL debut in 2019-20. Unfortunately, it's just one long-term injury after another for him.

Marco Rossi / Minnesota Wild – Rossi (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday. Good news for only Joel Eriksson Ek owners, who may possibly see some time with Kaprizov now. Even with a recent cold streak (one point in his last five games), Rossi is punching just above his career best for points per game at 0.76 so far this season. Helps to get strapped to a human rocket like Kirill Kaprizov, I guess.

Just to pile on, here are some more injuries from Saturday, courtesy of Elliotte Friedman.
