Picking the winners for the NHL games on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

What a disastrous month it has been. My record has gone from godlike to above average and my fantasy teams are beginning to collapse. Hopefully I can get hot down the stretch when it matters most. More importantly, hopefully I can have a good day today and #GETTHATMONEY.

Record: 29 – 13

Detroit @ Philadelphia (1pm ET)

The Flyers are on the outside looking in as they currently trail the Bruins by 10 points for the final wild card spot. Add in the fact that they also have two games in hand on the Bees and you got yourself a MUST WIN game. Philly has played poorly over the past few weeks as they are currently on a four game losing streak. Their playoff chances are all but dead but you got to believe that they’re going to play with desperation in this one. On the other hand, the Red Wings currently hold a playoff spot and have played rather inconsistently as of late. Part of the reason for their inconsistency is the shaky play of Jimmy Howard who has had a 3.14 GAA over his last four games. I think the Flyers will show up for this one as they are the more desperate of the two teams. Additionally, Steve Mason has been playing well as of late whereas the same cannot be said about Howard. The big boys wills shine in this one… take the Flyers.

Key Stat: Red Wings are 0-7 in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia.

Pick: Philadelphia – Home Team Win – H

Chicago @ San Jose (4pm ET)

Drama in shark land? The San Jose Sharks currently sit out of the playoffs, albeit by a measly three points. They take on the Chicago Blackhawks this late afternoon in what should be a tantalizing matchup. The Blackhawks have really tightened up the back end since Patrick Kane went down with season ending injury. Chicago has only allowed three goals over their last three games. Furthermore, Corey Crawford has played very well over his last five games allowing only five goals. The Sharks have won four of their last five games as they look to sneak into the post-season. Antti Niemi has been red hot for the Sharks as he has stopped 74 of the last 75 shots sent his way. This game could very well go to OT. But I like the Sharks here. Hopefully Joe Thornton will shut his GM up with a solid performance… in a big game for once.

Key Stat: Blackhawks are 1-6 in the last seven meetings in San Jose.

Pick: San Jose – Home Team Win – H

Pick: New York – Visitor Team Win – V

Winnipeg @ Tampa Bay (7pm ET)

The Winnipeg Jets continue to collapse as they are 4-4-1 in their past nine games. Consequently, the Jets have lost their wild card spot to the Kings. I don’t see things changing for the Jets anytime soon. They’ve been rocked by injuries and their goaltending has been terrible. To make matters worse they now make their way into Amalie Arena against the Bolts who are 7-2-1 in their past 10 games. After losing Dustin Byfuglien the Jets can now add Tyler Myers to the list whose status for this game is uncertain. Although Winnipeg are definitely the more desperate of the two teams… I just don’t see them keeping up with the Bolts in this one. Give me the Bolts in a high scoring affair.

Key Stat: Jets are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Tampa Bay.

Pick: Tampa Bay – Home Team Win – H

Toronto @ Vancouver (7pm ET)

I’m loving it. Seeing the Maple Laughs lose this much and in such pathetic fashion, night in and night out is orgasmic to me. Last night the Laughs got blown out of the Saddledome 6-3 against the Flames. The Laughs have now allowed 22 goals over their last five games. But never fear, KADRI is here! Yes, the great Nazem Kadri is set to return tonight versus the Canucks. With Kadri back I fully expect Toronto to bounce back here. I mean he is comparable to John Tavares… ok enough joking. I like the Canucks here because they need this game more than ever and the Leafs got throttled last night. After a 4-0 letdown game versus the Kings in their last game, the Canucks should rebound here with a routine win versus the lowly Leafs.

Key Stat: Maple Leafs are 0-6 in the last six meetings in Vancouver.

Pick: Vancouver – Home Team Win – H

Nashville @ Los Angeles (10pm ET)

You know what that sound is? That’s the sound of the Predators coming back down to earth. Nashville is 3-7 in their past 10 games. They have lost four of their last five home games. Additionally, Buffalo, Arizona, and Colorado are the only teams the Predators have beaten in their last 10 games. Now they take on a Los Angeles team that has done what they always do… win when it matters most. The Kings have won four of their last five and continue to roll as they recently leapfrogged the Jets for the final wild card spot. Jonathan Quick has started to heat up as he has only allowed eight goals over his last five games. Although the Predators traditionally play the Kings well… I like the Kings here.

Key Stat: Predators are 1-7 in their last eight overall.

Pick: Los Angeles – Home Team Win – H
