Sunday’s Game Picks: Avalanche Take Care of Business

After my disastrous performance last week, I was hoping we'd get to this point so I could get the chance to write another article. Indeed, not only did I go 0-3, my predictions all went in Tampa's favor, and they ended up getting obliterated 7-0. It would look horrible for me to end the season on such a low, so a chance at redemption is all I was hoping for.

Gold Pick

Colorado Avalanche @ Tampa Bay Lightning – Pick: Avalanche

If the Avalanche loses tonight, Tampa will have the whole narrative on their site. The only thing we'll read on Twitter is people discussing how the momentum is on Tampa's side and how they've got all the confidence. And that may very well be true. Giving up a 3-1 lead and letting the other team tie up the series is usually a crime worthy of the capital punishment in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Rarely do teams survive such a mistake as it places a massive toll on your mental state. Colorado knows that, and, considering they're probably the most talented lineup of the salary cap era, they won't let this one slip. Great teams just don't do that.

Silver Pick

Cale Makar to score 2+ points @ 2.62

Do you guys remember how easy life was about two weeks ago when the Oilers were still participating in the postseason? I always had a pick locked in for my Saturday bets, as he was almost certain to rally up at least two points in every game. Well, worry not, as it looks like someone else has reached that point. Indeed, it cannot be overstated how historic Cale Makar's performance is during these playoffs. The 22-year-old is leading his team with 29 points in 19 games, and looks to be a lock for the Conn Smythe, whether the Avs win it all or not if you ask me. That performance currently ranks fourth all time for defensemen in the postseason, and he can certainly still climb the ranks as we've got at least one more game to go.

Bronze Pick

Mikko Rantanen Anytime Goalscorer @ 2.90

To completely balance things out with last week's picks, I'm completing the Avalanche bets hat trick this week. Not only do I have confidence in Rantanen to score a goal tonight considering he's had 36 tallies during the season, while only finding the net five times in 19 games during the playoffs, but I also believe that his will be the winning goal that will put an end to this great season.

Thus, for one last time, thank you everyone for your support. I will see you again in three months.
