Thursday’s NHL Prop Bets: Crosby, Eichel, and Kadri Among Targets

2022-10-13

After a couple of great nights of NHL hockey, the new season is firmly underway. Tonight's slate is filled with 10 games, which gives us plenty of options to find some winning bets. The more games the better, as I always say!

Below I highlight three player props that stood out to me for tonight's games.

Sidney Crosby – Over 0.5 Assists (-110)

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins get their season started tonight at home versus the Arizona Coyotes. It is undeniable that Crosby is still an elite NHL player, and it is also undeniable that the Coyotes are the furthest thing from elite. The Coyotes were scored on 313 times last season, which was the second most goals against in the league. That trend will continue this year with how weak their roster is. Last season Crosby recorded five points in two games versus the Coyotes, he also racked up 30 assists in 33 home games. With how good Crosby performs on home ice, and how he produced against the Coyotes last season, tonight's game looks like the perfect recipe for Crosby to record an assist.

Jack Eichel – Over 3.5 Shots (-150)

Eichel was absolutely flying in the Golden Knights season opener versus the Kings on Tuesday, and I expect the same from him tonight in their home opener versus the Blackhawks. Eichel recorded seven shots against the Kings on Tuesday, a team that allowed the second-fewest shots against last season.  Tonight, he faces the Blackhawks who allowed the ninth most shots against last year, which means Eichel should get plenty of chances to shoot. With tonight being the Golden Knights home opener, and the Blackhawks playing their second road game in as many nights, look for Eichel to have a big game.

Nazem Kadri – Over 0.5 Points (-145)

Tonight is Nazem Kadri's first game with the Calgary Flames, it's the home opener, they are playing the Colorado Avalanche, the team he just won the Stanley Cup with, it doesn't get more interesting than this. This pick has a lot to do with gut feeling, players always seem to produce when they play their former team for the first time, and I picture that happening tonight. Kadri produced 52 points in 34 home games last season, which looks good for this pick because the Flames are at home tonight, but considering Kadri has a new home, that stat might be a little misleading. Look for Kadri to play with a little more jump in his step tonight and cash this bet for us.
