Tuesday NHL Game Picks: Nashville Looking Favourable With Help From Josi

We are back with another Tuesday edition of Game Picks, where we give out a Gold, Silver, and Bronze selections every Tuesday during the NHL season. There are eight really good games on the NHL schedule tonight, which will give us plenty of good betting options. I've done my best to research every game and I think I have found some winners. The two matchups I am most interested in are the Winnipeg Jets @ Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets @ Nashville Predators games. Hopefully, I can get back on track and sweep the board tonight.

Below I highlight my Gold, Silver, and Bronze selections for tonight's games. Last Tuesday was a rough day that saw me go (1 – 2), bringing my season record to (12 – 15).

Gold Selection

Winnipeg Jets @ Montreal Canadiens – Pick: Winnipeg Jets In Regulation (-145)

The Jets and Canadiens are in two very different spots coming into tonight's game. The Jets currently sit atop the Western Conference with 59 points, while the Canadiens sit second last in the Eastern Conference with 39 points. The last 10 games for each of these teams just prove why they are in their current positions. The Jets are 8-2 with 16 points, tied for the most points in the NHL over that span. The Canadiens on the other hand are 3-7 with 6 points, tied for the second-fewest points over that span. Over that stretch, the Jets have scored 36 goals, while the Canadiens have only scored 21. Defensively the story is the same over that span, the Jets have only allowed 26 goals while the Canadiens have allowed a whopping 44. The Jets have been one of the best teams in the NHL for the past month or so and I expect them to prove it again tonight against a struggling Canadiens team.

Silver Selection

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Nashville Predators – Pick: Roman Josi Over 3.5 Shots (-139)

The two main reasons for making this play are that the Blue Jackets are the perfect matchup for Josi, and Josi is dynamite on home ice. This season Josi is averaging 4.35 shots per game. On the road his average is 3.83, but while on home ice his average jumps up to 4.95 shots per game. Also, Josi has recorded 4 or more shots in three straight home games, as well as nine of his last 12 home games. The Blue Jackets are the perfect matchup for Josi because they allow an average of 11.44 shots per game to opposing defensemen, the most in the NHL. They also allow an average of  35.3 total shots against per game, the second most in the league. With how much better Josi plays on home ice and how many shots the Blue Jackets give up to opposing defensemen, I expect Josi to rack up a ton of shots.

Bronze Selection

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Nashville Predators – Pick: Nashville Predators In Regulation (-125)

The biggest reason I am making this play is because of how bad the Blue Jackets are on the road. Columbus has a road record of (3 – 14 – 1) for a total of 7 road points, the fewest in the NHL. They have also lost 10 of their last 11 road games. While on the road this year the Blue Jackets have scored 36 goals and allowed 70. Scoring half as many goals as you allow is a good way to lose a lot of games and that's what has been happening often to the Blue Jackets while on the road. The Predators are just okay while at home with a record of (10 – 7 – 3) but compared to what the Blue Jackets have been doing the Predators look like a juggernaut. With how ridiculously bad the Blue Jackets are on the road it would be crazy not to bet against them.
