DFS Tuesday: Expensive Lightning in Boston; Florida on the Road; Anaheim Value, and More

Good day to my DFS squad! How'd the plays go over the weekend for everyone out there? I decided to take Sunday and Monday off, but Saturday went overboard on entries but did get all my entry fees back, so it was not a bad day at all.

Today we have a massive 13-game slate so there's going to be plenty of paths to cash here tonight. I've circled a couple of spots that I may be targeting.

Slate Preview

Tampa Bay versus Boston

I have stayed completely away from Tampa Bay for around a month now except for two Sundays ago when they went into Anaheim and completely laid an egg. Part of me staying away though is price driven as the Tampa top-line is usually the most expensive line on any slate. I just couldn't justify spending up when I needed the top line to score 37 goals combined to make their price work. Okay, so maybe I crammed those numbers too quick, but the amount that they would need to output would have been extremely high to make it worth spending up for. However, it's a 13-game slate tonight, Boston has struggled in net all season, and this Tampa top line is fully correlated against a Boston team that earlier in the year was marching to the penalty box. The issue here is more just pricing as a full Tampa one stack is going to cost you a cool $26,300 but if there are filler players or a stack that you like on the board here then you may be able to make a Tampa stack work. In single entry…I'm on the fence, but I'm kind of interested in seeing if I could make this work in a lineup. Even if I don't get to a full-on Tampa top line three-man stack, I might try and mix in some of the depth lines if I do go to the Bolts tonight.

For the home Bruins, I guess David Pastrnak one-off at $8,400, sure? Pavel Zacha I'd say is a maybe to add to a lineup at $3,700 but he's going to be a popular pivot because he will skate with Pastrnak at all strengths. If you're playing multiple lineups and get to Boston, it would make for a unique build tonight for sure, so you could have that going for you. Which is nice. For me, I will say that going to maybe parts of the blue line here for Boston makes sense and maybe goaltending as well in multi-entry. This game at the end of the day for me is a Tampa game, depending on if I want to spend up.

Florida versus New Jersey

Florida played last night or, well, Sam Reinhart played last night I should say. That said, I do have interest in the Panthers tonight and can see myself going to them in single-entry. I don't need them to outright win, though that would be nice, but if this club gets three goals again like they did last night, then I'd have a hard time thinking that the top six wouldn't be involved. I think a good way to build with them tonight might be a mix of expensive and cheaper options if you're looking to stack. You could take Aleksandar Barkov ($7,900), Sam Reinhart ($7,700) and add in Anton Lundell ($4,400) or even Gustav Forsling at $4,600 on the blueline. This would be a case where I don't think going all-out top line is in play, as you could plug in different options and still be able to put together a solid lineup around this Florida team tonight.

Now let's talk Devils. I know I've gone over in past articles about all the nice shiny fancy stats out there involving New Jersey, and they're going to see a Florida team starting a backup goalie on the road. For those reasons I do have some interest here, but I might be leaning slightly towards the Panthers here tonight and it's just more a matter of price and what I might do with my lineup here. These two teams have nearly identical records, but if there's one thing that is drawing me to the Devils it's that at least once a week we see the Panthers have a stinker game…I know that's a tough way to sell it for DFS but it's true. Last week this team was almost absent against the Avalanche at home, week before that they get shutout 4-0 against the Habs. It has been like this now for around a month. If you like the Devils, I'm not saying no at all, but not sure that I'm getting to them here on this slate.

Anaheim versus Washington

Colorado is on this slate, Detroit who hasn't lost in 2025 yet going up against San Jose, Toronto, Tampa Bay, New Jersey, maybe Golden State is in a good matchup in the NBA…so why Anaheim. It's because of the filler players, that's why. If you want to play either of the top two lines for Anaheim, be my guest, but the Ducks last game shifted their depth to the top six and then back down to the third lines and if they do that again here tonight then I don't dislike getting some exposure to the Ducks. Let's be honest as well, there's not too much on the Washington side that I'm worried about defensively and if I'm spending up for an expensive line elsewhere, then a Ducks pivot makes some sense. I could see myself throwing in say Leo Carlsson ($3,100) and Alex Killorn ($2,800), or some sort of combo like that. If I need to save salary somewhere here there's maybe a depth line in Utah that catches my eye, maybe something from Calgary, but this Ducks team could be overlooked here going up against a Capitals team that does trade chances.

For the Capitals, they smashed the Predators last week and are now on home ice going up against the Ducks. I don't mind getting to them at all and if I had to rank where I'd have them in a single-entry, maybe third or fourth on my priority list? They are priced in a range where you may be able to fit an expensive one off with a Dylan Strome ($5,800) – Alex Ovechkin ($8,900) two-man stack and if you want to add on a piece from the blue line that's fine. Washington is going to be popular here just given their spot but on a big slate like tonight, if there's a line that you want to play then I say full send.

Defensemen

Victor Hedman at ($6,600) would be the top of my board here today and if I stack Tampa I might try and get him in…he should fit nicely with whatever fourth line I have to pair with the Bolts but no risk, no Porsche. Noah Dobson is a fine play going up against the Senators at $6K, and right below him I like Moritz Seider at $5,900 in an excellent matchup. Either Capitals defensemen is fine or both listed at $5,700, I don't have a preference between either of them as both d-men have been on the Capitals top power play unit. My guy Jake Walman is ready for his revenge game and is at $5,500, and it may be a little bit too pricey but if you get to him, I'm not going to say he's a no-go. Dropping down, Gustav Forsling at $4,600 and is shooting the puck a good amount to make that salary work and will never say no to Thomas Harley at $4,400. For the cheaper defensemen – and believe me we're going to need at least one tonight – Artem Zub is down at $3K and just itching to get into my lineup here at that price. Ryker Evans at $2,900 is another decent punt play, and I do like Mason Lohrei for the Bruins at $2,700.

Goalies

Goaltenders…my friends…okay if you're spending up all the way to the top, Logan Thompson may have a good shutout opportunity against the Ducks at $8,500. Now, I have not spent that much on a goaltender since I played over on FanDuel where that's the price for the cheapest goaltender but if you are spending all the way up then I think it's a decent play. Either Toronto goaltender for the volume going up against the Stars is all good at $7,800, I don't mind going to them; Juuse Saros up against Vegas at $7,600 has my interest. For a cheaper play, Thatcher Demko is again a 'maybe' for me at $7,200 but to be fair to him, I don't think that I've been all-in on a Canucks goaltender here all season long. I will say, either Anaheim goalie is alright. I know that sounds sort of crazy but if you need to save some salary, I wouldn't completely cross off going to a Ducks netminder tonight.

Good luck tonight everybody!
