An Offseason of Decisions

Vinny

Thanks to a few well-timed strong finishers, my undermanned team (The Crosby Show) in an extremely competitive head-to-head keeper league managed a second place finish after the playoffs. As you can probably tell from my team name, Sidney Crosby was my star. This league counts standard categories (goals, hits penalty minutes, and so on), and over the past few seasons we have added a few more (faceoff wins and hits).

Over the past few weeks I have been formulating a plan for my team this summer. I’ve decided to share it with you, even though every single one of my competitors reads this site (in fact one of them is even a fellow columnist). Why? I’d like to think it is because I am such a nice guy, but I am also looking for feedback and your opinion as to how I should approach the summer ahead.

Rumors out of Vancouver today that Hamhuis has been suffering (to put it lightly) from a ruptured testicle. I was told it was mid-section/rib related last week, and after hearing this I hope it is. I can't even begin to fathom how painful a ruptured testicle would be.   Again, just a rumor, but [...]

Goldie Says: My latest on NHL.com looks at Luongo's crumbling confidence. Great deal for Reimer and his owners. I take a look at his potential next season as well.   One year and $3.25 million for Kostitsyn the elder in Montreal. Another 18-25 goal season filled with inconsistency - take that to the bank! [...]

Robin Lehner stopped all 21 shots he faced for the shutout over Houston in the Calder Cup last night.   Lehner's playoff stats - 12-4 record, .938 save percentage, 2.12 GAA.   Malhotra sounds like he is a go for tonight on the fourth line. Andrew Alberts likely draws in for Dan Hamhuis. Alain [...]

If you downloaded the Fantasy Prospects Report Wednesday, you may want to do it again as I made some additions. Ryan Johansen and Brayden McNabb, which had disappeared into cut/paste purgatory, are back in. I also added profiles for Andy Miele, Taylor Doherty, Matt Frattin, Aaron Palushaj and two other players who I won’t name [...]

Update: Problem fixed. If you downloaded the Fantasy Prospects Report yesterday, you may want to do it again as I made some additions. Ryan Johansen and Brayden McNabb, which had disappeared into cut/paste purgatory, are back in. I also added profiles for Andy Miele, Taylor Doherty, Matt Frattin, Aaron Palushaj and two other players [...]

Where does Ryan Ellis rank in terms of best CHL defensemen ever? Not those who became great NHLers, but those who were the most effective at the CHL level.   Malhotra - check this fantastic analysis piece out.   "This is notable because as Gabriel Desjardins has noted in the past, losing a defensive [...]
