For the last 19 years (12 with The Hockey News) Dobber and the team have reviewed each team from a fantasy-hockey standpoint and graded them. The 20th annual review will appear here on DobberHockey throughout the summer. This is not a review of the likely performance on the ice or in the standings, but in [...]
The MLB trade deadline was yesterday, and we saw a massive deal where a top-three player in the league was dealt alongside an all-star on an expiring contract in exchange for a large future package. Generally in all sports you lose the trade if you give up the best player, and it doesn’t seem to [...]
Goalies can be so tough to manage and predict year to year. It has gotten to the point that I will not invest heavily in a goaltender, because the ones like Andrei Vasilevskiy and Igor Shesterkin are too expensive to acquire, and anyone after that is too inconsistent to trust, be it Connor Hellebuyck, Robin [...]
Here are the top 62 goalies to own in your salary cap league – May 26th, 2022 edition. The music on the goalie carousel has stopped once again, and the market seems to be just about fully shaken out. Vitek Vanecek and Alexandar Georgiev are the two winners, with Georgiev winning the plum spot in [...]
The Salary Cap League Rankings are here! All of the top 200 skaters. **** With the draft wrapped-up and free agency past the frenzy portion, there’s lots of dust to settle out. We have new faces, old faces in new places, and all sorts of new contracts to face. Got it? Only a couple of [...]

I’ll start with the draft, and though I am no prospect expert (I defer to the DobberProspects group on that one) I do find myself often [...]
The Red Wings brought in another free agent, adding Dominik Kubalik who was strangely not tendered as an RFA in Chicago. He received a two-year contract worth $2.5 million per season. What the Red Wings are getting: Kubalik will be 26 by the time the season starts, and is just entering his prime. He’s also [...]
The Ducks have been fairly quiet through free agency, but their one notable move has been to bring in Frank Vatrano on a three-year deal worth $3.65M per season. Here was my initial thought on Vatrano before he signed: https://twitter.com/alexdmaclean/status/1546468208223330304 What the Ducks are getting: Vatrano had struggled lately with the Panthers, and with the [...]
Washington capitalized on their opportunity to reset in net this offseason, and after parting ways with both Vitek Vanecek and Ilya Samsonov, they have landed the big free agency fish in Darcy Kuemper, and will have Charlie Lindgren to back him up. Kuemper gets $5.25M per year for five years. Lindgren gets $1.1M per year [...]
The Hurricanes let Dougie Hamilton walk because they didn’t want to pay him until he was 37, and they traded Tony DeAngelo because they don’t want to pay him $5 million, so of course they go out and acquire a 37-year-old Brent Burns who will now cost them a little over $5 million per year [...]
