After a few years of rumoured discussions involving Pavel Zacha, the Devils finally sold a year after his peak value, as the former sixth overall pick was shipped off to Boston in a straight-up exchange for Erik Haula. What the Bruins Get: Zacha is a big forward that can play both centre and wing, [...]
As the resident Nashville fan, I have to say that when I saw the Ryan McDonagh trade my immediate reaction was disappointment. To me it meant the team was going to continue to toil as a bubble playoff team, they were going to continue to spend money un-wisely, and they didn’t have a full understanding [...]
I was looking into Ryan Johansen’s FrozenTools page for an entirely unrelated reason, and noticed that he may be the poster-boy for regression entering next season. He tied the second-highest point-pace of his career despite seeing his ice time drop for the third straight season. Diving in deeper it looks bad no matter what numbers [...]
The Florida Panthers were disappointed with their early playoff exit under Jack Adams finalist Andrew Brunette, and so they hired Paul Maurice in his place… a coach with a history of failing to get teams far in the post-season. On an unrelated note, you get one guess who holds the all-time NHL record for most [...]
We saw the NHL announce their awards last night, and you can find the full breakdown in lots of places quickly if you google it. There’s not a lot of fantasy value to be gained from awards and all, but they are a fun way to wrap-up the season, and look ahead to potential winners [...]
Game one of the Stanley Cup Final goes tonight, and it has the potential to be maybe the best matchup we have seen in at least the last 20 years. Regardless of your rooting interest, sit back and try to enjoy this one. https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/1536810341622894592 On a related note, it appears that Brayden Point may be [...]
The Lightning evened the series at two games apiece, after an early goal from Patrick Maroon who is looking for his fourth-straight Stanley Cup, and then two more from the big guns in Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov. Ondrej Palat (more on him later) notched the empty netter, for his third point of the night [...]
My playoff picks took a big hit in the last round, going 0-4, which lumps me in with the Florida Panthers’ playoff power play, and the Leafs in closing games of a playoff series. Good thing for me, is there is a quicker path to redemption here as I get another shot with the third [...]
With the big update to the goalie rankings, we overhaul the top-10, as a lot of our bargain goalies from last season are now due for raises. That’s going to make for an expensive summer on the goalie market, with Ville Husso, Jack Campbell, Vitek Vanecek, and others all looking for multiple millions more than [...]
This is the big update of the year, where all of the player stats get flipped from the finished regular season over to looking at the next one. This is especially impactful in these rankings, as a lot of the top players on the last list had expiring contracts. With a lot of them free [...]
