Vladimir Tarasenko has left the NHL playoff bubble to return to St. Louis for further evaluations on his shoulder. At this point, that’s all the information that was given. This is a huge blow for St. Louis’s long-term prospects in this postseason. Their first-round matchup is down to a best-of-three and any team can beat [...]
It was clean out day for teams that have been eliminated. There were lots of quotes to come out of the Toronto dressing room – Auston Matthews used “embarrassing”; Zach Hyman used some variation of “sucks” a lot – but I’ll leave those alone for now. They need to back up words with actions. What [...]
The big news we’ve been waiting a month for was which play-in team would end up with the first overall pick in the lottery. Because of the abbreviated season, teams agreed to allow the play-in franchises to the lottery draft, and they won. The lottery for first overall was Monday night and as hockey fans [...]
I know I’ve written a few times about Kirby Dach already this postseason, but I want to write more about him. Why? Because hockey’s back and who cares. Remember back to the 2019 draft. Chicago got lucky to move up to three and likely surprised a few people by taking Dach. Not that it was [...]
Jesse Puljujarvi is heading back to Finland for next year. He has signed a one-year deal with Karpat of the Finnish Elite League. According to the press release, there is an out clause for the NHL, but who knows when the next NHL regular season will be. They’re hoping for December. Pulju had 53 points [...]
These are my first Ramblings since the NHL officially returned, meaning post-exhibition games. I just want to pass along some thoughts on the weekend games before reviewing what happened in Monday’s contests. First, it sure seems to me there’s a difference in intensity between the round robin games and the play-in games. That should have [...]
This is largely going to be a recap of the exhibition games from the last couple nights. Granted, there isn’t a ton we can glean from the first game back after nearly five months away – during the middle of the summer, no less. All the same, we’ve been waiting a long time to watch [...]
The big news over the weekend was that John Chayka, the GM for Arizona, was leaving the team. The Coyotes put out a press release statement saying he quit the team. What actually happened, we don’t know. What I do know is that taking team statements at face value is not advised. I was a [...]
The big news on Thursday was the announcement of the Seattle franchise’s new name and logo. There had been hope they’d be released earlier, but, you know, *gestures broadly*. Anyway, that announcement came and the team has settled on the Seattle Kraken. It was a name that got a lot of traction on social media, [...]
In what is very good news for Penguins fans and very bad news for Habs fans, Sidney Crosby returned to practice on Wednesday. He had missed the last few practices with an unknown injury, but it appears it wasn’t severe at all. A welcome sight, for some. * Something I missed and noticed yesterday: Ross [...]
