There is no solace that comes with losing your starting goaltender due to injury. There’s no extra IR spot on the roster or free agent acquisition to be made, there’s no antidote to fix the scar. Live with it and move on. Roberto Luongo has been placed on the gurney, clad in white sheets and neatly lined up next to Rick DiPietro, Kari Lehtonen, Martin Brodeur, and for now Evgeni Nabokov and Marc-Andre Fleury.

When trading in fantasy sports you have decisions. Just like at the counter of your favorite fast food joint, one needs to be decisive and accurate with their choices. Do you go for the pricey combo meal players? Crosby, Malkin, AO, Vanek or even Semin? Sure, these guys have the whole package, immense talent and huge production, but are they worth the cost? Some are bonafide classics like the Big "Mac" Joe Thornton, but others may just be for a limited time only like the McRib or Ryane Clowe.  Champions in fantasy sports look to the value menu for their trade steals.

Yes this is cheesy, but it wouldn't be fast food without plenty of it.

When it all comes crashing down, the only thing left to do is build it back up again. Such is the life of many NHL goalies dealing with their play this season and such is the life of dealing with your own fantasy goalie tandems. The combination of streaky, volatile and inconsistent play is still rampant, so regardless of whether it stems mainly from team play, bad coaching or the goaltender himself, it’s not going away anytime soon.

Joe Thornton n’est pas tout à fait à un point par partie et ses propriétaires dans les pools sont déçus. Ils ne devraient pas l’être, car tout fonctionne selon un plan.

After taking a look at players who seemed to have turned into unforeseen princes in my last article, this week I’m focusing on players who’ve been mainly frogs this season when you expected them to be your fantasy team princes. You’ll notice that there have been much more disappointments this season than there have been pleasant surprises.

Whether it’s used correctly or not, the trendy term “goaltending controversy” is being tossed around in many markets right now. I can’t get away from it here in Denver, nor can analysts in Ottawa, Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis…and the list goes on. But no matter what the reasoning is, when you look a little deeper, all of these situations actually walk a very fine line between healthy competition and a real full-fledged controversy.
