Capped

With Christmas fewer than two weeks away I thought it was a good time to toss in a quick two part series on team’s wish lists. I’ll take a look at prospective deadline buyers and identify current needs of each. I will also look at some deadline sellers so we can see what might become [...]

We have officially entered the dog-days of the hockey season. You know, those middle forty games. The ones that beat up players and teams alike; and leave your injury reserve overflowing. Just ask the Montreal Canadiens (yikes!). With injuries comes the need for replacements. Your ability to claim a good replacement is directly related to [...]

This week we’ll check in on eight players and their cost-per-point production. I will review four players on each side of the coin – four players offering really good returns and four players that could be tanking the first half of your season. I will cover both their actual cost-per-point value and their point-per-million in [...]

We’re about a quarter of the way into the season. Yep, that’s right, almost twenty-five percent of games have been played. I thought it was a good time to look at some of the goalies across the league and see how values have been affected through the first quarter. So, without further ado… Jack Campbell [...]

With the final part of our series on defenceman contracts we’ll take a look at the ones that make us pump our fists and help us sleep at night. Those defenceman whicih have surprised almost everyone, including their agents. Those value players that bring us back year after year and help you win championships. If [...]

Welcome back to Part III of our weaving through the new landscape of defenceman values. You can find Part I here, where we covered the new expensive high-profile contracts signed over the summer. And Part II here, where we looked at some of the defencemen we had previously written off as overvalued, and who we [...]

Welcome back to part two of my wanderings through the ever-changing, evolving landscape of defencemen contracts. Last week I covered off most of the newer, large contracts that were signed over the summer like Cale Makar, Zack Werenski, Seth Jones, to name but a few. If you missed last week’s read, you can check it [...]

Like a volcano erupting the fantasy landscape for defencemen dramatically altered in a matter of three months. This offseason was met with collective sighs, ooh’s and ah’s as defenceman after defenceman signed for higher than expected values. Erik Karlsson and Drew Doughty still stand alone, as outliers on the defencemen salary cap landscape making $11.5M [...]

Welcome back for the fifth and final part of the team by beam buy and sell series. This week we cover seven teams starting with the St. Louis Blues. You can find the previous parts to this series here. In case you are jumping in without having read the first four parts I’ll reiterate that [...]

The season is upon us. With it comes part four of the ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ series. You can find the first three parts here: Part I, Part II, Part III. This week we’ll cover the New York Islanders to the Seattle Kraken with perhaps another surprise selection or two. Again, I intentionally exclude superstars on [...]
