Capped

The all-star break is here, and now it’s really getting down to crunch time in fantasy leagues. I’m going to start focusing on some trade deadline acquisitions for your fantasy leagues soon, but for now we’re going to look at two recently signed extensions: Teuvo Teravainen and Mikko Koskinen.   **** Teuvo Teravainen - [...]

We’re one short week away from the NHL All-Star break, where some good players get chosen to play in a meaningless game, while other better ones are left at home. Can you tell I don’t care for the all-star game? Anyways, the theme featured in this week’s article is not going to be found [...]

With New Year’s done and gone along with the World Juniors, all we have left are the food comas, some questionable resolutions, and the second half of the NHL season. This week for the Capped Column, we’re going to tie together the World Juniors, the end of the 2018-2019 NHL season, and a resolution [...]

Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best for the new year, and that the things you want to change, change for the better. On this end of things though, not much is changing. You can still get all of your fantasy need-to-know right here. Dobber’s mid-season guide is almost here! Arrives January 11th. [...]

After we touched on some of the buy-low candidates last week, this week we’re going to look through a few sell-high options. First though, I wanted to touch on the Robert Bortuzzo signing. The most comparable contracts (as shown below) are Jordie Benn, Kevin Connauton, and Mark Fistric. Of the set, I would certainly [...]

After the hockey world has focused on the Leafs for the last little while with the William Nylander signing, let’s let them have another 30 seconds before looking elsewhere. Jake Gardiner is almost assuredly going to be starting next season elsewhere, as left-shot defenceman Calle Rosen just signed a two-year extension on a one-way [...]

This week's Capped looks into the many angles of the fallout resulting from the signing of William Nylander. **** I managed to only mention William Nylander twice last week. Now that he has signed, we have to deal with the wide-reaching impact of his new contract. This impacts the Maple Leafs, and future RFA [...]

**** With the William Nylander saga ending one way or another in two days, alongside recent signings of Jacob Chychrun, Nick Ritchie, and Alex Tuch, it seems like a good time to review the Restricted Free Agents for the coming season.   ****   First off, I wanted to touch on Ron Hextall’s dismissal [...]

This week's Capped covers some similarities between the first quarter of last year’s season, and this year’s. **** Happy American Thanksgiving to those South of the border. To my Canadian brethren, and every other non-American, happy Thursday.   Did you know that in the salary cap era, if your NHL team is in the playoffs [...]
