NHL Picks/Props

In the weekly piece “Saturday’s NHL Picks,” Flip Livingstone breaks down at least three of Saturday’s NHL games where he will either pick a winner or make an over/under bet on total goals.

Jamaica was incredible!! However going from 32 Celsius to -30 in Thunder Bay in less than 24 hours is quite the shock to your system (that’s a 112 F change in temperature for those of you south of the border).  Thunder spent the lasttwo weeks at my mother in laws where there is no hockey, so please forgive her picks for this week, and mine too. Still trying to get all that Appleton and Red Stripe out of my system. 10 games on the schedule.

My winning percentage stayed at the 70% mark last week. I correctly predicted a blowout victory and a shootout win.  I got 7 out of 10 winning teams right.  Not only am I getting the winners right, my analysis on what I think is going to happen and why I see it happening has been so spot-on it has been sort of freaking me out.  I am in a hockey tournament this weekend in Niagara Falls so I am doing these picks late on Thursday night.  I will look at some different angles for these games as I can’t read and research the same articles I usually do.  EDIT: After writing this I just have to say, these are some very tough games this week, tread with caution.

My DobberHockey Saturday predictions are on fire right now. Unfortunately for me, every other day of the week has turned sour over the past 10.  My bookie loves me again.  Hopefully a good six hours of research for this article can conjure up some winners like always for the Dobber faithful. Heading in to this weekend my Saturday picks boast a winning percentage of 62.9.

There are a lot of early games, so be sure to check the time of NHL action on Saturday.

I checked my email this morning to find out I was getting tossed into the fire again, which sounds kind of nice since its mius-36 here this morning...Last week looked like a crap shoot as the afternoon games saw me go 0-4, but a strong evening session 7-1 saw $3 turn into $130 thanks in part the Isles and Thrashers going to a shootout, Colorado winning in Columbus, the Flames scoring an empty netter against the Leafs, and Marleau outscoring Dustin Penner.  Luckily, there’s only one afternoon game this time around.  After last week, Notch still leads the way at .629 winning % and I’m barely ahead of my own mutt of a dog at .516, Thunder brings up the rear at .513.  At least we’re not a bunch of losers!  Notch will be making his picks next week and the week after, as I will be in Jamaica. Enjoy the games everyone:

Happy 2010 everyone!!!  I’d like to congratulate Steve Johnson for his recent hot streak with picking winners. It is time to start betting some of my hard earned cash on his picks next week -I need some spending money before I go to Jamaica.  Last week Thunder and I tied with identical 6-6 records; however she gets the edge for calling that Dallas tie.  There is plenty of action this Saturday, and I hope everyone enjoyed that CAN-US New Years Eve clash, and the outdoor game from Fenway yesterday.  Here’s hoping all those underachieving bums on our fantasy hockey teams start producing. Cheers!

It’s Christmas day and I am working 24 hours.  I am fresh off a 10 day cruise that saw my buddy get married for the 2nd time.  I got hypnotized on the boat and made a complete fool of myself.  What an amazing trip!  I have been on fire with my bookie recently and have won roughly $2900.00 in the last 5 days of NHL action.  I made a posting in our forum before Wednesday’s games previewing my picks.  I went 10 for 11 and was two Florida goals away from a perfect night.  If that had happened, I would have won $1600, but instead I only won $600.  Either way, I am on fire and I hope it continues for you all on Boxing Day, here are my thoughts and picks:

It’s that wonderful time of the year, where we are all supposed to be in the spirit of giving.  As much as I’d love to give you all guaranteed winners so you have some extra spending money on Boxing Day, I’m quite busy rushing around trying to find adequate Christmas gifts, as I have left my shopping till the last week... again. Enough of this fluff talk, let’s get right to it. If you want to win money I’d bet on my dog before putting money on me... Happy Holidays!!!

Wawa, ON was quite rough on me and my selections a couple of weeks ago.  Lesson learned, just like with a woman, alcohol hinders judgement when it comes to hockey. I am now back in the Bay, and Thunder’s been getting antsy without making any picks for almost a month.  I wish I could say that I’ve won $1300, but I guess I just don’t have the balls to send out anything more than a $5 ticket.  14 games on tap for the weekend, let’s see if we can get back to our winning ways.

I am coming off a huge week last column which saw me win close to $1300.00.  I  am pretty sure I was 9-2 on the week and hit a big parlay.  I feel very confident in these weeks’ selections and even have a guaranteed pick.  Not sure what I will do if I lose, but I won’t so I don’t even need to think about it.

I’m on the road for work and this week’s picks are coming to you from Wawa, ON the home of legend Chris Simon … hahaha.  They have a Chris Simon drive, which is of course the street the arena is on.  Haven’t had as much time for the picks this week, as I’ve been busy travelling and working so I apologize for any lack of insight into the matchups.  Thunder is at home so we won’t include her picks this week, but we’ve got 13 games on the schedule so enough dwelling on what could have been and here we go!
