Hockey Rambling

With just one game in the NHL last night, there really isn’t a whole lot to talk about, other than a bit of news. This is my first Ramblings of 2022 so I thought it would be a good chance to essentially build off my final Ramblings of 2021. That article covered some stats that [...]

Midseason Guide will be out January 14. Eleven days! This Guide comes with your Ultimate Fantasy Pack or Gold/Platinum subscriptions. It does not come with the Keeper League Fantasy Pack nor the Silver subs. You can pre-order it here. Those who bought the Midseason Guide last year would have had a heads-up about Arvid Soderblom. [...]

With the exception of the irregular schedule of last season, January 1 on the NHL calendar means Winter Classic. This year’s battle was in frozen Minnesota, where the temperature was about minus-22 Celsius (minus-8 Fahrenheit). In front of the Minnesota faithful, Jordan Kyrou stole the show. The Blues forward scored two goals and two assists [...]

Happy New Year, and all the best to you in the coming year! By the time you read this, it will already be 2022 somewhere - maybe even where you live. I know we were hoping that 2021 would turn out better than 2020, and it looked like it would for a while. We can [...]

After a week off, let’s see if I remember how to do this. Setting a fantasy lineup in these times of the omicron variant has been more about finding players that fit the following criteria: 1) Their team is playing today, and 2) The player is not injured or on COVID protocol. While everyone is busy over the holidays, and while we’re also dealing with a scheduling upheaval, I wanted to take the time to put out some updated contract projections for the 2022 free agent crop. With the new year upon us, we could see a few more extensions signed as more players become eligible. I [...]

It should go without saying at this point, but the landscape of the NHL is going to change dramatically on a daily basis for the near future. Every player is at risk of landing in COVID protocols and that can take any player, or any combination of players, out of the lineup for a team. [...]

Midseason Guide will be out January 14. In my Ramblings I had been saying “15” but that’s wrong. It’s the Friday, not the Saturday, that this will be out. So January 14 – 18 days! This Guide comes with your Ultimate Fantasy Pack or Gold/Platinum subscriptions. It does not come with the Keeper League Fantasy [...]

Merry Christmas! I know this hasn’t been the most ideal holiday season, but hopefully you were able to enjoy something this year. Even without NHL action for at least another couple days, at least we can dive into the World Juniors today. Here are today’s games that you can watch or at least follow. Finland [...]
