Well the latest wave of Covid is running through the NHL, and we have already seen a number of players, teams, and games affected. We’re not out of the woods yet, and this season may end up being just as bumpy as last year when all is said and done. This is the kind of [...]

The only NHL game was postponed due to COVID issues, so there is a lot of time for updates, news bits, and some research. We have all three in today’s Ramblings. First, Calgary does have a COVID outbreak on the team. There are numerous players in protocols, as well as coaches, so the league has [...]

According to Stars GM Jim Nill, Ben Bishop won’t be able to play any longer. The veteran goalie was attempting to come back from knee surgery and hadn’t played since August 2020. Bishop recently completed an AHL conditioning assignment, but he gave up eight goals, likely figuring that the knee wouldn’t allow him to compete [...]

Ramblings: Crosby/Ovechkin, Bratt Pack, Following Up on Coaching Changes in Vancouver and Philly (Dec 11)

By Ian Gooding|2021-12-11T02:29:09-05:00December 11th, 2021|Hockey Rambling|

Sidney Crosby versus Alex Ovechkin matchups never get old, especially since we can still debate which player has had the better career and even which player is better right now. Even with both Crosby and Ovechkin recording two assists each, the Penguins came out on top 4-2. With the two assists, Crosby extended his point [...]

By Michael Clifford|2021-12-09T21:49:14-05:00December 10th, 2021|Hockey Rambling|

It is funny how hockey can work sometimes. It is my belief that the right player slotted into the right spot can really change a team’s fortunes. The reason being is one injury can put one guy in a position he shouldn’t, and then the next guy in a position he shouldn’t, and so on [...]

By Michael Clifford|2021-12-08T21:46:23-05:00December 9th, 2021|Hockey Rambling|

Talking about defencemen is probably my favourite thing to do because the position has evolved so much over the last 20 years that it always feels like we’re on a new frontier. Regardless, there are a pair of defencemen I want to talk about today, and both were high draft picks this past fantasy season. [...]

By Alexander MacLean|2021-12-08T15:16:34-05:00December 8th, 2021|Hockey Rambling|

The other editors here have done a solid job covering the shakeups in Vancouver and Philadelphia, but with having a game under our belt from both teams now, we can start to see a few trends emerge. I just wanted to jot down a couple of notes on those. Power play units are always interesting [...]

By Michael Clifford|2021-12-06T21:49:49-05:00December 7th, 2021|Hockey Rambling|

The big news out of the NHL on Sunday night was the cleaning house in Vancouver. It is pretty funny that a GM that has been there for over seven years and a coach for over four got fired in the middle of the night on a Sunday, but the NHL has always been great [...]
