Hockey Rambling

The Winnipeg Jets have some young restricted free agents left to sign on the blue line, namely Jacob Trouba and Josh Morrissey, but they locked up their young goaltender for six more years at $37-million total. That means Connor Hellebuyck should be in Winnipeg through his age-30 season. It’s really hard to peg goaltenders. [...]

In just three weeks, the 2018-19 Dobber Hockey Fantasy Guide will be released. Be sure to head to the Dobber Shop to grab your copy! The guide is updated periodically until the season begins to reflect trades, injuries, and new line combinations, so even if you’re early, you won’t miss out on up-to-date information. [...]

Though there’s obviously been a lot of digital ink spilled here and elsewhere on the signing of John Tavares, there’s a good reason for that: in the NHL, it is rare a player of his calibre isn’t on the team that drafted him into his 30s. Not in the cap era. Just look around [...]

Ramblings: Karlsson, Strome, Maroon, Ennis, a Sharks prospect and more (July 9) *** I always stress to fantasy owners – never hold onto a prospect you hope will be as good as Player X, if you can actually use him to get Player X.   The Montreal Canadiens were dealt a significant blow on Thursday as the team announced Shea Weber would be undergoing knee surgery which would keep him off the ice for 5-6 months. Best guess right now is to not expect him in the lineup until Christmas. While the Subban-Weber trade has been debated since it [...]

Both the Draft and Free Agency are behind us which means there really isn’t a whole lot left to do this offseason. There is still the possibility of offer sheets but let’s face it, NHL general managers are more concerned with getting a Christmas card from a rival than improving their own team. Were [...]

I really like the Robin Lehner signing for the Islanders (Mike breaks it down with his thoughts here, which I agree with). The Isles have two of the best goaltending prospects in all of hockey with Ilya Sorokin and Linus Soderstrom, but neither will be available this season and likely not next year either. So [...]
