The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Brent Burns to a one-year contract. According to Elliotte Friedman, the contract has a $1 million base and has games-played bonuses of up to $3 million. https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/1940597826054246401 Burns has been the anti-Band Aid Boy, having not missed a game since the 2014-15 season. During the prime of his career, [...]
Fantasy Impact: The New York Islanders have signed diminutive winger Maxim Shabanov to a one-year, bonus-laden deal with a cap hit of $975k and an AAV of $4.475M. I posted my feelings on Shabanov six or seven hours before the signing: https://twitter.com/DobberHockey/status/1940431977858887801 Perhaps he was waiting for my blessing? In all seriousness though, the strong [...]
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. As always, I'd like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) [...]
Pius Suter has signed a two-year deal in St. Louis with an AAV of $4.125 million. With the move, the Blues continue to reshape their middle-six forward group, and by bringing in Suter they are signing one of the best centers in what was a very thin market. Suter is coming off of a career-high [...]
Welcome back to Forum Buzz, where I peruse the DobberHockey Forums and weigh in on active, heavily debated, or otherwise relevant recent threads, reminding folks just how great a resource the Forums are. Nearly anything might be covered here, other than trades and signings, which usually get their own separate write-ups on the main site [...]
It’s a little strange doing Ramblings for the day after free agency opens, as all of the news is pretty well covered in other fantasy take articles (which you can find here). Cliffy did an awesome job basically covering the whole day himself, so stick taps to him. It's also a little too early to [...]
The Edmonton Oilers have signed winger Andrew Mangiapane to a two-year, $3.6 million AAV deal. The speedy Mangiapane scored 35 goals for the Calgary Flames during the 2021-22 season, but he has failed to reach 20 goals in each of his past three seasons. In his lone season in Washington, Mangiapane was held to just [...]
Following the signing of Vladislav Gavrikov (breakdown of the fantasy impact of that deal here) it seemed all-but-certain that the New York Rangers were going to be trading defenceman K’Andre Miller. As happened with Vegas and Mitch Marner, the deal ended up being a sign-and-trade, only this time to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for [...]
One team that had oodles of cap space – over $35M according to PuckPedia – was the Anaheim Ducks. It seemed a lock that they would go make a big signing at some point in free agency and while the available names have run thin, they did go get one of the best playmakers available [...]
The New York Islanders have signed winger Jonathan Drouin to a two-year contract with a $4 million AAV. Drouin built his career back up in Colorado by accepting two separate one-year contracts. Over his two seasons there, he averaged a 62-point 82-game pace (0.76 PTS/GP) while often on a line with junior teammate Nathan MacKinnon. [...]
