Well, it didn’t take Evander Kane long to make an impact with the Oilers (and hopefully your fantasy team)! As mentioned in my article last week, we are quickly approaching the NHL All-Star Game weekend and subsequent break. This has a pretty big impact on fantasy hockey leagues of all formats. In roto leagues, you [...]
Controversy aside, Evander Kane’s debut with the Oilers on Saturday should be considered a success. Kane opened the scoring in the first period, then finished with a plus-2 and three shots and four hits as the Oilers easily handled the Habs by a score of 7-2. Kane played on a line with Connor McDavid and [...]
Welcome back to The Journey, where we follow hockey prospects and their paths to the NHL, providing fantasy predictions and analysis along the way. At the end of last month, this column did a sink-or-swim article covering Kaapo Kakko, Erik Brannstrom, and Eeli Tolvanen—all young, formerly hyped prospects who seem to be at a crossroads [...]
Not a bad start for me last week with four correct picks out of six, including my gold and my silver picks. And yet, all I can think about is how close I was to winning that Toronto vs New York spread. Really, Islanders? Really? You couldn’t score a second measly goal for me? Against [...]
I must say it sure is nice looking at the player pool each day and NOT seeing a big red IR or OUT logo next to half the player’s names on the list. Also, knock on wood, when was the last time a game has been postponed? Has to have been at least two weeks [...]
Have you noticed that the number of players you’re losing to the COVID protocol list is now shrinking? The omicron variant curve for NHL players seems to thankfully be on a downward slope, which means that maintaining a fantasy hockey roster comes with fewer unpleasant surprises these days. However, being the glass half-empty guy that [...]
The only question of Evander Kane returning to an NHL lineup was if the NHL were to clear him from his investigation. Once he was cleared from that, he would be free to sign anywhere, and teams would be lining up. The league did clear Kane of wrongdoing and he eventually signed with the Edmonton [...]
Welcome back to Looking Ahead, the weekly column where we gander at the next 10-ish days of NHL play to see how often each team is playing, who they’re playing, and which fantasy options can help out. It is also important to know which players to avoid, so we’ll be looking at some of those [...]
Now that we are at about the halfway mark of the season it seems appropriate to take a look at some first half successes. In this case though we are going to deviate from point paces and pay homage to the multi-cat kings. Being in two leagues that count peripheral categories I can attest that [...]
It has been a small sample so far, but Alex Tuch has been very impressive in Buffalo. He has 10 points in 10 games, and they generally look competitive in most games they play, even if they’re not close. There are young players that are improving while Rasmus Dahlin looks great on an improving blue [...]
