There’s no denying it, the increase in scoring to start the season has numerous goalies melting under the glow of the red light. Even when they put together a tremendous game, they are still allowing close to an average of three goals, sometimes four or five. But despite this period of inflation for save percentages and goals against averages, there are still plenty of admirable performances and performers to be found.

As expected, Ovechkin will be back for tomorrow's contest against Ottawa. The Devils have sent down Matt Halischuk and have recalled Anssi Salmela and Scott Clemmensen.  Janne Pesonen was recalled by the Pens yesterday. He played 9:52 and was a minus-1 in his NHL debut. He is doing extremely well in the AHL though.  The Islanders finally gave their biggest clients - the season ticket holder - some specifics regarding their biggest asset. Rick DiPietro underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Friday and [...]

Oscar Moller will stay with the Kings. They will play him for Game 10 today, so he's in. Moller should be good for 40 points this season, 50 for the next two, and then a nice 75-point breakout year. His upside is 80. He is ranked 28th on my prospects list.  Tim Connolly will finally [...]

Hurricanes

Remember the "Looking Ahead" article at the beginning of the season describing the Rangers' accelerated schedule?  Well it couldn't have worked out any better to create a 'sell high' environment and many Rangers are on people's hot list right now.  Keep that in mind the next week or two as the Rangers have played four to six more games than most other NHL teams.

Rankings are up and on the front page. Defense rankings are also done (not on front page) - for the second month in a row we have a new leader: Brian Rafalski finally takes a turn as the most coveted defenseman in points-only keeper leagues that count playoffs.  Smack1919 answered the trivia question. Nine players who [...]
