Filling in for Dale this week, I’ve enlisted the help of a four legged friend.  This is Thunder, a 5 year old Shepherd-Collie cross that will finally help us answer the question:  Are four legs better than two?? After the trade deadline on March 4 there are still 22% of the games left to play.  All NHL teams play between 17 and 20 games. The top schedules belong to the Senators (20.25), Flyers (20.13), Canadiens (19.94), Blackhawks (19.78), and Wild (19.74) who all play 20 games (ratings shown in brackets). At the other end of the schedule the Hurricanes (16.90), Penguins (16.95), Predators (16.97), Ducks (16.97), and Blue Jackets (17.23) have the worst combination of fewer games, tougher opponents and road games.  The Blackhawks lead the homes games category with 13 after the trade deadline followed by Panthers, Flyers, and Canadiens with 11.

 According to Ansar Khan's latest ,  "the Wings recalled goaltender Jimmy Howard from Grand Rapids. Howard will back-up Ty Conklin for tonight's game against Anaheim and then make his first start of the season for Detroit Saturday in Minnesota. Kovalev

 

With the recent news that Alexei Kovalev is not accompanying the team on their short two game road trip, we are going to see what the Canadiens are made of. Kovalev is an All-World talent, but can sometimes disappear for long stretches. This will be a wake up call for him.

 Sorry, Auld didn't start three straight - he started two and came on in relief in the other one. Still, his numbers in those three games: 2-0-1, 1.07 and 0.956. He goes on these hot streaks and if the Sens were smart they would ride him for the 5-7 games or so that he stays [...]
