Happy New Year everyone - suck back a cold one for me tonight! I'll drink one for each of you, or die trying   My Puck Daddy article can be found here.   Dion Phaneuf could be suspended for his brutal hit on Anze Kopitar. I posted the clip below, as well as Ivanans' reaction. [...]

Nashville has recalled Mike Santorelli to replace the injured Martin Erat. I don't know what Erat's injury is, but I'll keep you posted. Probably not serious.   Michal Neuvirth gets the start for the Caps.   A lot of chatter in the comments below defending Niitymaki. I had forgotten that he led the team in [...]

We’ve all heard of the phrase “the numbers don’t lie”, but there is always room for statistical anomalies that make each and every one of us scratch our heads. This week we’ll take a look at 17 statistical anomalies along with my thoughts on whether the numbers will re-align itself or are they in for the long run.

Here it is - my Top 10 Fantasy Events of the past decade over at The Hockey News. Mentioned below, Ziggy Palffy and his sudden retirement did indeed crack this list. A must read and a lot of fun to write and research.   Gionta had an assist in his return to the Habs lineup. [...]

roloson

With all of the great young goaltending talent in the league right now, it’s no surprise that some of the wise and durable veterans get lost in the fantasy mix. Once you look past the popular guys like Martin Brodeur and Tim Thomas, there stands one 40-year-old man fully capable of playing consistent, quality stretches of good hockey.

Dwayne Roloson has performed beyond the expectations of most analysts out there and has become a perfect fit for the New York Islanders. On a team loaded with so much young and up-and-coming talent, Roloson is the perfect type of goalie for these players – one that instills confidence in his teammates simply due to his unyielding work ethic.

The Caps picked up some speed and checking in Jason Chimera and sent Chris Clark and Milan Jurcina to the Blue Jackets. The deal opens up a spot for Alzner to be on the team full time. The Jackets, meanwhile, will benefit from Clark's stabalizing presence and the depth offered by Jurcina. Good deal all [...]

After poring over second-half statistics for the 2008-09 season, as well as this season so far, not to mention polling the members of DobberHockey’s forum, I have whittled the list down to 15 events of the past year that had the greatest impact on fantasy hockey in 2009.

Happy New Year

For all of the times that I pat myself on the back with good predictions… there are (nearly) as many bad ones. I thought Chicago made a huge mistake drafting the undersized Patrick Kane over Joe Sakic 2.0, Kyle Turris. Through 37 games, Kane has 13 goals and 39 points for the Blackhawks.  Through 31 games, Turris has seven goals and 22 points. In the AHL. Swing and a miss!

Midseason Guide - order here - I just realized is set for a Saturday release (January 9). I will do what I can to get that sucker out on Friday afternoon - the 8th. Perhaps as a pre-release and then re-release it January 9 upon completion.   Derek Roy will miss today's contest. He left [...]

Simmonds, Smyth, and Johnson all return.   Daniel Alfredsson is expected to miss [...]
