In my latest for the Canucks Army, I take a look at some top four defensemen who could become available at the trade deadline in a few months.   Jeff Skinner could have had six or seven points last night. He absolutely dominated every single shift against the Edmonton defense. He finished with a [...]

Callahan

Callahan vs. Heatley - I wish I could have gotten this week’s Cage Match out before the start of the season. I feel like it could have saved you all some pain. Much like last week’s Filppula vs. Ribeiro Cage Match I will be comparing an in-decline veteran with an up-and-coming youngster. This week it is Dany Heatley vs. Ryan Callahan. Does the vet have anything left in the tank? Is the youngster ready to usurp him? Let’s find out. Ring that bell!

To give you an organized list of our content (and to prove that I am somewhat organized), I have created this schedule of columns on DobberHockey.   Crosby, per TSN, is missing the next two games "as a precaution". This precaution is for a hard hit that he took, and although the blow was [...]

Let’s take a look at Frozen Pool Forensics noteworthy players of the week. From people in the know, one name has been bandied about among the top young blueliners in the game today. He’s six feet tall, 210 lbs and measures 42-34-42. He likes long walks on the beach, bubble baths, the colour green and stargazing. Of course, I’ve given you too much information… I could almost hear your screaming Ryan McDonagh at your monitor/iphone/ipad/IIe/Lisa.

My THN column yesterday focused on the most consistent players in the league this year. Including Kessel, Fleischmann and the Nuge. Also, here is my Puck Daddy piece.   For what it's worth, Kris Letang seems as though he is on the mend, but would need to be symptom free for a week before [...]

Heading into the 2009 NHL entry draft, the top North American ranked skaters were John Tavares and Matt Duchene. As it turns out, these two and the top-ranked European skater (Victor Hedman) occupied the first three picks in the draft. At number four overall, the Atlanta Thrashers would select Vancouver native Evander Kane. Kane had just wrapped up a 96-point performance in 61 games for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL and would turn pro the very next season.

My Puck Daddy article is up. Find it here.   Both Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek have been diagnosed with concussions. Simon Despres makes an excellent pickup - do it now.   Some Avalanche notes - Paul Stastny left the game late after suffering a torso injury. Also, Stefan Elliott's low ice time came [...]
