* I'd be remiss if I didn't start this week's ramblings by touching on the first Toronto Maple Leafs playoff win in the better part of a decade. From the storylines, to the matchup strategy, to the quality of Toronto's goals, to the cultural relevence of the event, that was just a totally engrossing [...]
In last week’s article, I looked at a handful of North American skaters who have seen their rankings fluctuate in NHL Central Scouting’s final 2013 draft prospect rankings compared to their mid-season rank. This week we hop across the pond to look at three European skaters who may see a change in when their name is called at the draft in June.
* My frame-by-frame breakdown of the Kesler goals from Game 2 (via Canucks.com) * Montreal got back into the series with a total team effort. Oh, and some goals helped, too. I really like the Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gallagher line. In particular, Galchenyuk and Gallagher are building some nice chemistry this season. If you are a fan of [...]
* Two games for Eric Grbya. Ummmmkay. Looks like Patrick Wiercioch will draw in tonight. Big fan of his game. Great puck mover. * The Interactive Playoff Draft List (get it here) has been updated based on the standings as of today, plus Columbus (still in it) as well as injury [...]
Daoust with some more under-the-radar rookies to keep an eye on.
With the regular season finished, most keeper leagues are dormant and many GMs are more focused on the NHL postseason than their fantasy teams. If your league has farm rosters to store prospects this is a good time to snatch some underrated gems.
The NHL continues to provide us with interesting entry level signings and many of them involve players who are very relevant in fantasy hockey. Let’s take a look at those with a cap hit of less than $1 million for the benefit of those in cap leagues:

* Boston and Pittsburgh both showed why they are the favourites in their respective matchups. Boston controlled the play against the Leafs, while Pittsburgh outclassed the Isles in every area of the game. Can anyone tell me why Orr and McLaren drew in to the Leafs lineup over Matt Frattin and... anybody? [...]
Cage Match – Zach Bogosian vs. Erik Johnson
The trend with the recent Cage Match articles is about giving the people what they want so by request we will get our bust on this week looking at Zach Bogosian and Erik Johnson. Now you might argue that the bust label is unfair so allow me to qualify. It’s completely unfair to label a guy who skates over 20 minutes a night for his team a bust, regardless of his draft position but from a fantasy perspective well that gets a bit more reasonable. When a defenseman gets drafted that high we assume he has some offensive acumen and we hope he’s going to be the next Chris Pronger. The problem is that there’s only one Chris Pronger and even with him the dividends were slow to arrive. So even when considering fantasy hockey you have to be really careful when applying that bust label to a defenseman because they can take forever to develop.
My Playoff Draft List is updated completely. Fully customizable, instant download, complete with notes - and even a sheet with my own personal picks if you'd rather go with those. Thanks for supporting the site. * Congratulations to Russ Miller for finishing second place in the Industry Experts League to Kukla's Korner, facing down competition [...]
