Ben Smith missed practice Tuesday for the Blackhawks. Coach Q would not say why. No matter, because Marian Hossa, out with what Aaron Ward of TSN suspects is a neck injury, is expected to play tonight. * Logan Couture has signed a five-year contract extension worth $30 million ($6 million per). He can't sign it [...]

Danny Paille strikes again. I like what Thornton does with his 6:27 of ice time - two shots, four hits and a blocked shot. The guy is sitting on the bench, hungry and willing to do anything. Nathan Horton saw just 13 minutes of ice time - I'm thinking his shoulder is hurting. A lot. [...]

Seven Playoff Duds - Time to Worry?

Fantasy hockey veterans know that players who do great in the playoffs - or the preseason - often don't match (let alone build on) that success in the regular season, which is when their stats really count for most fantasy hockey leagues. But what about guys who do poorly in the playoffs? Should that be a concern for poolies going into the 2013-14 regular season?

With that question in mind, I'll cover seven players who performed (or are performing) well below their regular season production in the 2012-13 playoffs. For a "Final Verdict", I’ll give a prediction on whether each player’s 2013-14 performance will be more like what he did during the 2012-13 regular season, more like what he did in the 2012-13 playoffs, or somewhere in between.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Poised For Big Year

Another off-season is upon us, which means another summer of debating whether or not the Coyotes will still be in Phoenix next season. This time around things aren’t looking very optimistic in Glendale. The normally positive Bill Daly and Gary Bettman gave indications last week that the Coyotes stay in Phoenix could be coming to a close. Daly said it’s possible the team won’t play there for the 2013-14 season, and Bettman added that there were plenty of relocation markets who have expressed an interest in acquiring the team. Not a good sign coming from Bettman, a guy that almost always refuses to admit anything is wrong. It could be just pouring down rain and Bettman would still be trying to tell you he sees sunshine.

I'm going to assume that the reason for the delay in officially announcing Alain Vigneault as New York's next coach is because it was Father's Day Sunday. I would guess that there would be an announcement today. I don't guess that his presence will help Brad Richards any. And Rick Nash would probably get 75 [...]

Won’t Get Fooled Again – 2013 NHL Draft

Three overagers to keep an eye on at the NHL Draft...

Every year a lot of players end up not hearing their name called on draft day the first year they are eligible. Just because a player has been passed over one or more times doesn’t mean they will never end up drafted. This year there are a handful of players that could finally hear their names called and could be worth a late pick in fantasy drafts.
