We're nearing the end of the regular season in DFS, so naturally I fired off a five‑entry tourney on Tuesday. Managed to get my entry fees back—though I honestly couldn't tell you which stack did the heavy lifting. Either way, it's back to the single‑entry grind tonight.

My first pass on this slate didn't reveal much, but the deeper I dug, the more a few interesting spots started to emerge.

Slate Preview

Pittsburgh Penguins

You all know I rarely roster the Pens, but they're firmly on my radar tonight. The matchup at even strength against Tampa isn't ideal, but my interest is almost entirely power‑play driven. The Bolts took more minor penalties than any team in March, and while they didn't pay for it much, Pittsburgh's PP has been generating strong expected‑goal numbers.

If Bryan Rust plays, the fully correlated top line becomes very appealing. If he's out, I'd pivot slightly toward a Sidney Crosby ($7,500) – Erik Karlsson ($5,900) – Rickard Rakell ($5,100) 2F–1D stack. The second line is also viable, especially if you're pairing them with San Jose's top line in a favorable matchup against a shaky Toronto Maple Leafs squad. Ultimately, I'm waiting on warmup lines before locking anything in.

Montreal Canadiens

If you're looking for a spend‑up line, Montreal makes a lot of sense. Their top line is pricey, which makes pairing tricky, but the Sharks' second line fits perfectly alongside them. The draw here is the New York Rangers' penalty kill, which has struggled over the past two weeks. Montreal's top line is fully correlated on the PP, and they've been excellent on the road—third‑best road record in the league—while New York owns the third‑worst home record. Something's got to give, and I like the Habs as a single‑entry spend‑up option.

Washington Capitals

This is more of sneaky play than matchup or power play related. In the Caps' last game out, they lost Aliaksei Protas to injury and have already listed him with an "Out" designation for tonight. If yesterday's morning skate for the Capitals holds true today, that would make the top line Alex Ovechkin ($5,800) – Dylan Strome ($4,000) – Connor McMichael ($3,600). That line is at a price point where you can match them with another middle-priced stack or go spend up on the blue line. What's also worth noting here is that this line is going to be fully correlated on the Capitals' second PP group, which sure usually we prefer the top power play unit but two things here for the Caps PP – Ovi plays on both units and in the last three games, it's the second PP unit that has taken the bulk of ice time on the man advantage.

It's a fair matchup against the New Jersey Devils, who if they come out looking like the club we saw on Tuesday at MSG, looked like they were going through the motions outside of a goalie fight. For me, I might try my luck at this Caps first line in my single-entry here tonight

Defense

Evan Bouchard sits at the top of my board at $7,800. That sentence is the exact same as Tuesday, outside of changing the price from $7,600 to $7,800. He has been near-automatic for three shots a game and has three multi-point games in his last four outings. Good news too, as the Chicago Blackhawks are on the opposite side of the ice tonight. My other high-dollar defenseman tonight would be Rasmus Dahlin at $7,100, and that's just for the good power play exposure he'll get versus the Sens. I like Brandt Clarke here a fair bit at $5,800, which seems a bit high for a shot-block bonus but there's always the chance of some offense with him. Mikhail Sergachev has eight assists in four games and sits in a great matchup at $5,400 against the Seattle Kraken. Seth Jones tonight at $4,700 is fine with me because he'll see some good power play time tonight against the Boston Bruins. Jake McCabe is in play at $4,100, because he stands in front of a lot pucks, and if I need a cheap option I like Olli Maatta at $3K.

Goalies

I like Jacob Fowler here from a volume standpoint, but the $8,100 price tag might be a bit steep for me. If he shows up in an optimizer for you ,I think that's alright, but plugging him into a lineup would only be if I'm going with a full Habs stack tonight. For me, Jeremy Swayman is my spend-up at $8K– he has been excellent for DFS going back to the middle of last month. With or without a Capitals stack, Logan Thompson has been very good lately for Washington and is at a price of $7,500 where I'd feel good plugging him into my lineup. If you need a cheap goaltender tonight, then it's tried and true Spencer Knight at $7K. The win might be a hard ask, but he'll see plenty of volume for sure.
