Thursday Player Props: Crosby And Kempe Firing At Will; Jarry Can Be A Brick Wall

It is Thursday once again, so let's find some winning NHL props. There are 10 games on tap in the NHL tonight, which means we have a ton of options available to find some winning props. I've taken my time to carefully look over every matchup tonight, and I think I've found a few props that can win us some money. The research is done, the picks are in, and now it's time to watch some hockey!

Below, I highlight three player props that stood out to me for tonight's games. My record this season stands at (25 – 11) after going (2 – 1) last Thursday, hopefully, we can sweep the board tonight!

Sidney Crosby – Over 2.5 Shots (-143)

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby currently sit outside the playoff picture, that can't be sitting too well with Crosby. I think Crosby will want to have a big game tonight at home versus the Edmonton Oilers to help his team climb back into a playoff spot with a win. Crosby, who is known more for his passing ability, has really been shooting the puck a lot lately. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 3.70 shots per game, almost a shot more than his season average of 2.89 shots per game. His increase in shots recently has led to him recording three or more shots in three straight games, five of six on home ice, and nine of 12 overall. It's not a secret that the Oilers aren't anything special defensively, they are very average when it comes to shot suppression, which means Crosby shouldn't have much trouble getting into the Oilers Zone. In his lone game versus the Oilers this season Crosby won this exact bet, recording three shots. With Crosby pulling the trigger more than usual and the Penguins fighting for a playoff spot, I expect Crosby to have a big game tonight to get us the win.

Adrian Kempe – Over 2.5 Shots (-114)

Adrian Kempe has been on an absolute tear lately winning this bet and I expect more of the same tonight when Kempe and the Los Angeles Kings visit the New Jersey Devils. This season Kempe has been averaging 2.98 shots and 5.55 shot attempts per game. Meanwhile, over his last 10 games, he is averaging 3.90 shots per game and 6.90 shot attempts. Averaging nearly a shot per game more than his season average during that span is a big increase, and I expect his hot play to continue. His jump in shot production has led to him recording three or more shots in eight straight games, seven of eight on the road, and 13 of 15 games overall. Kempe recorded four shots in his one game versus the Devils this season. The fact that Kempe has won this exact bet in 87% of games over the last six weeks makes this play a no-brainer for me.

Tristan Jarry – Over 29.5 Saves (-110)

Tristan Jarry, just like Crosby, will have to be on his game tonight if the Penguins hope to beat the Oilers and get back into a playoff spot. The Penguins haven't done their goalies any favours this season with how many shots they give up per game, and it's only gotten worse as of late. This season the Penguins are allowing 34.1 shots against per game, the third most in the NHL, but over their last 10 games they are allowing 36.2 shots against. Giving up two shots more per game than average does night look good when making a playoff push, or when you have to play the Oilers shoot happy offense. The Oilers have averaged 33.2 shots per game this season, the eighth most in the NHL. The Oilers are outperforming their season average over their last 10 games, averaging 35.3 shots per game, just over two more shots per game than average over that span. With how these two teams have been performing over the last couple of weeks I wouldn't be shocked to see the Oilers record 40 shots tonight, meaning Jarry would need a huge game if the Penguins hope to get the win.
