It’s the end of the week – I think – so let’s have a little bit more fun with posts. For those who missed, I wrote yesterday about what a 2020 Team North America would look like. I had a bit of positive feedback on it, so let’s continue in that similar vein. Instead of [...]
Four years ago, we were treated to the World Cup of Hockey. It was effectively a substitute for the Olympics as a best-on-best tournament, seeing as the NHL’s Board of Governors are way too greedy to ever allow the fans to be happy. It likely exceeded expectations, in large part due to the u-23 team. [...]
The Leafs signed defenceman Mikko Lehtonen to a one-year contract beginning in the 2020-21 season. The 26-year old left-shot blue liner led Jokerit in scoring in the KHL, no small feat from the back end. He is expected to battle for a spot on the third pair whenever the next season begins. Readers can view [...]
Sometimes, all it takes is for a player to get into the right situation. All it takes is the right line mates to bring a player from being somewhat obscure to being one of the most valuable players in all of fantasy. There’s one guy who fit that bill last year and we’re going to [...]
It sucks to say, given that we should be enjoying some stellar second-round playoff hockey right now, but we need to start looking to the future. We need to start preparing for the 2020-21 season given the uncertainty with this year right now. Whether the 2019-20 season finishes, whether we have playoffs, and whether 2020-21 [...]
The NFL draft was last night and it was certainly a lot different than any pro sports draft that I can remember, for obvious reasons. That got me thinking about what the NHL is going to do with their draft coming up. It’s not quite the same situation for the NFL as it is for [...]
I know people are starting to get antsy about the return of the NHL, other sports, and really just some semblance of normalcy, but it’s something that I just can’t get excited about. There seems to be some sort of plan floated by the media every other day – play in one of the Dakotas, [...]
Last week, defenceman Dustin Byfuglien and the Winnipeg Jets came to an agreement to terminate his contract. That means he’s free to sign wherever he wants for the 2020-21 season. Whether he wants to play or not is still up in the air, but at the least, his time as a Thrasher/Jet has come to [...]
Looking back on the 2019-20 season, there are a lot of stories that have been hashed and re-hashed: the emergence of the all-star rookie defencemen, McDavid/Draisaitl dominance, Hellebuyck carrying Winnipeg, the playoff race in the Metro, Bryan Rust throwing up monster points out of nowhere, the slow establishment of Tampa Bay’s dominance, and on we [...]
There was a good read on our site a couple days ago from Mike Halbany, one of our newest writers. He was discussing Dominik Kubalik and what we could expect from him next year, given his incredible success and lack of track record. One thing Mike brought up that I think is very important: Kubalik [...]
