Fantasy Take – Latest NHL Moves

The Tampa Bay Lightning were likely to lose a few players again, and they began their annual summer purge today with Ross Colton being shipped out to the Avalanche. Colton comes into a spot recently vacated by the trade of Alex Newhook, and with a few other players departing via free agency, the Avalanche have [...]

The exodus from Calgary has begun as there have been a number of rumoured trade requests, cap crunches, or difficulties with contract extensions from the likes of Mikael Backlund, Elias Lindholm, and Tyler Toffoli, to name a few. There has been a lot of upheaval in Calgary that started a year ago with the huge [...]

One of the big storylines of the 2023 NHL offseason is the Winnipeg Jets and what they would do with their stars. It seems as if they are ready to unload a bevy of players, a few of them being core pieces for the last few or even several years, to try and turn the [...]

The Montreal Canadiens have been tied to trade talks with Pierre-Luc Dubois for some time now, but the latest rumours are pointing to a trade between Winninpeg and Los Angeles sooner rather than later. In his two NHL seasons, Durzi has shown some offensive ability. Most recently, he scored 38 points in 72 games for the Kings in [...]

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired forward Ryan Johansen from the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Alex Galchenyuk. An important term to this transaction is that the Predators will be retaining half of Johansen’s $8 million cap hit for two more seasons. So this trade is about the Predators freeing up some cap space without [...]

Coaching vacancies were dwindling and though there were rumours of Peter Laviolette being the new bench boss for the New York Rangers, until things like that are announced, rumours are exactly that. That vacancy came to an end on Tuesday as the Rangers announced Laviolette will be the head coach for the 2023-24 season, even [...]

It seemed possible that the Columbus Blue Jackets would tinker with their blue line in the offseason considering the injuries and underperformance last season. They started that process by trading for Ivan Provorov earlier this week, and they continued that process on Friday morning by trading for a pending free agent from New Jersey, and [...]
