The Philadelphia Flyers, ladies and gentlemen. It was less than a year ago that they shipped Shayne Gostisbehere to the Arizona Coyotes, along with some draft picks, in what was a cap dump. Fast forward to July 2022 and they trade three draft picks for Tony DeAngelo, and then sign him for two years at [...]
Following the goaltending performances (or lack thereof) from Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek in 2021-22, namely in the postseason, it seemed likely they would shake up their goaltending. They did exactly that, as they traded Vanecek to the New Jersey Devils. This is how it broke down: https://twitter.com/SamanthaJPell/status/1545415121392078851 Let’s get to it. What New Jersey [...]
One of the big goalie storylines this offseason was the future of St. Louis goalie Ville Husso. He had largely outplayed Jordan Binnington all season but with the latter’s large contract, Husso was likely to move on. That’s exactly what happened as he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings: https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1545406275655196675 Husso turned around and [...]
We got a partial answer as to what the Toronto Maple Leafs will be doing with their goaltending this offseason as the team’s Cup window progresses. It appears that Jack Campbell will test free agency while the team traded Petr Mrazek and the 25th overall pick for the 38th overall pick from the Chicago Blackhawks. [...]
We had a significant trade made after the third overall selection, and both involved the Draft host team of Montreal. They went out and got a young centre they had been looking for while sending out Alexander Romanov. The two trades look as such: https://twitter.com/CanadiensMTL/status/1545195007791009794 That effectively works out to being Romanov (to NYI) and [...]
With the Chicago Blackhawks looking ahead to a rebuild, there were some tough choices they would have to make this offseason. One name that kept cropping up was that of star scoring winger Alex DeBrincat, and the rumoured trade came to fruition a couple hours before the Draft: https://twitter.com/NHLBlackhawks/status/1545140566090031105 Ottawa was a team that had [...]
It was all but certain that New York Rangers goalie Alexandar Georgiev would be traded this offseason. Starter Igor Shesterkin has cemented himself as one of, if not the, top goalie in the world. The Rangers have just $10M in cap space with key free agents like Andrew Copp and Frank Vatrano left to sign, [...]
With free agency starting on the 13th of this month, I figured its time to begin talking about some of the bigger named RFA’s that are out there. I have discussed some of the UFA’s in prior weeks articles so feel free to check those out as well. After going through the list of RFA’s [...]
Here are the top defensemen to own in your points-only dynasty leagues - July edition! Not a lot done this month, just some tweaks based on a couple of key NHL trades, some injury news, etc. You'll notice a bit of a bump for Los Angeles players. This is due to their acquisition of Kevin [...]
Welcome back to Goldipucks and the Three Skaters, a play on words of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story. Instead of there being three bowls of porridge though, I cover three skaters and declare one too hot (i.e., doing unsustainably better than he should), another too cold (i.e., doing unsustainably worse), and a third [...]
