In a good old-fashioned hockey trade, the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Cam Atkinson to the Philadelphia Flyers for Jakub Voracek. https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/status/1418965617546256385 This trade features two players that on the surface appear similar. Both players are right wingers. Both players will be 32 years of age when the season starts. Both players are owed just [...]
Welcome back to The Journey, where we follow hockey prospects and their paths to the NHL, providing fantasy predictions and analysis along the way. The 2021 NHL Draft’s first round is now complete, and a plethora of news broke the internet before the first pick was even announced; teams were quick to move picks for [...]
Carolina completed their second somewhat vexing trade of the week on Friday. Earlier, they shipped off Alex Nedeljkovic to Detroit for a mid-round pick and the rights to Jonathan Bernier. Not exactly what Carolina fans were hoping for, I think, for a goalie who’d gone through their system and was a finalist for the Calder [...]
The rumours had been swirling basically all year that Seth Jones would be traded and that happened about an hour before the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. As had been rumoured, the Chicago Blackhawks have acquired the 26-year-old blue liner and subsequently extended him for seven years. It really took me a minute to get my [...]
In a trade that looks more like something you’d see in a dynasty fantasy league than between two NHL teams, the Vancouver Canucks have acquired Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland from the Arizona Coyotes for Jay Beagle, Loui Eriksson, Antoine Roussel, the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft (Dylan Guenther), a second-rounder next [...]

With Seattle on the brain, we turn to expansion teams. This will be a bit less about Seattle’s current draft list (which is likely to change before opening night) and more about doing a little expectation setting. We will start by digging into our last example of an expansion team entering into the league and [...]
“The desert around their walls is called the Garden of Bones. Every time the Qartheen shut their gates, the garden grows.” I thought of that quote from the second season of the Game of Thrones when I found out that Shayne Gostisbehere had been traded to Arizona. Here are the particulars: https://twitter.com/CraigSMorgan/status/1418265130433798150 The Flyers paid [...]
