Hockey Rambling

Only one game was played on Saturday, but that one game had plenty of significant injury news and overall nastiness beyond the box score. Avalanche 5, Blues 2 (Avalanche lead series 2-1) Trade deadline acquisition Artturi Lehkonen led the Avalanche with two goals while taking five shots. Darcy Kuemper stopped 29 of 31 shots in [...]

Friday featured two Game 2s, where Carolina extended its series lead while Edmonton tied the Battle of Alberta. Hurricanes 2, Rangers 0 (Hurricanes lead series 2-0) Antti Raanta earned his first career playoff shutout (21 saves) to ensure that the Hurricanes keep home ice advantage as they head into MSG. Raanta is rounding into form [...]

The two visiting teams both came up victorious in Game 2s on Thursday. Let’s break down what happened. In a day jam-packed with Game 7s, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Edmonton all advanced while Boston, Toronto, and Los Angeles will all hit the golf course. Let’s run down the three games that were played. Hurricanes 3, Bruins 2 (Hurricanes win series 4-3) After being acquired from the Blue Jackets, Max Domi scored two goals [...]

The Hart Trophy talk this season was as vibrant as any in recent memory, maybe as far back as the Taylor Hall MVP season.
