Hockey Rambling

 Shea Weber has been ruled out for the season and Carey Price is now out with a concussion. The tank is on in Montreal! It would be nonsense to say this is intentional on the Canadiens’ part. They have way too much money invested in these two to play games. They are out because [...]

 I don’t know if this is a hype job, but Bob McKenzie writes that it’s roughly a 50/50 chance that Erik Karlsson is traded by Monday. As much as the rumours have been out there for weeks, it’s still mind-rattling to consider. I never would have guessed that the odds were this high. When [...]

 Thomas Greiss was placed on IR yesterday with a lower-body injury. It was retroactive to the 16th so we could see him back sooner than later. Christopher Gibson was recalled, but it’s doubtful he sees much action. Gibson’s now 25 and his AHL numbers leave something to be desired. Any goalie can go on [...]

Don’t forget to set your lineups on this holiday Monday. There are three afternoon games that feature a lot of fantasy-relevant players so you don’t want to fall behind in your head-to-head leagues. * A full day of hockey was kicked off with a wild game between the Flyers and Rangers. There were three fights [...]

Someone is going to stop Eeli Tolvanen eventually, right? The 18-year old first-round pick for Nashville has been a force for Jokerit this year even if his scoring slowed down after a scorching start. His first game at the Winter Olympics saw a four-point effort (one goals and three assists) against Germany. He followed that [...]

 Dion Phaneuf’s first shot in a King uniform and was on net, rather than high and wide. I know, I’m shocked too. He would later score a power-play goal skating 18:56 with secondary power play usage. He also had no penalty kill time. Could less be more for Phaneuf? I can’t help but think [...]

 First Mitch Marner gets a five-point game, now Nazem Kadri takes his turn. That pairing has been dynamite over the past 10 games scoring 13 and 15 points respectively. {source}

Kadri with the sauce. Monday, Tom Collins nailed a pretty solid Top 10 list that covered the 10 hottest names on the block leading up to the NHL’s Trade Deadline on February 26. So I won’t get into those players, but I’ll add a few of my own to that list, in no particular order. Some names I’ve [...]
