The Metropolitan Division is this season’s All-Star Game winner, defeating the Central Division 5-3. Claude Giroux was the game’s MVP, scoring two goals in the final and another goal and assist in the first win against the Pacific Division. Giroux showed some razzle dazzle in his first goal. https://twitter.com/Sportsnet/status/1490059059453640711 One second-half question on the minds [...]
Welcome back to The Journey, where we follow hockey prospects and their paths to the NHL, providing fantasy predictions and analysis along the way. This week, we’ll examine three players who are nearing their Breakout Threshold (BT). Here’s part of Dobber’s definition: “Average-sized forwards (between 5-10 and 6-2, or between 171 and 214 pounds) need [...]
Here are the top defensemen to own in your points-only dynasty leagues - February edition! As always, defensemen rated within +/-5.0 of each other should be considered equal, which is why I put them in groups as we get further down. *** Jonesing for some fantasy hockey during the All-Star Break? It's not too late [...]
The NHL’s Skills Competition took place in Las Vegas on Friday evening. Here are the names (minus sponsors) and winners of each competition: Fastest Skater: Jordan Kyrou Save Streak: Jack Campbell / Andrei Vasilevskiy Fountain Face-Off: Zach Werenski Breakaway Challenge: Alex Pietrangelo 21 in ’22: Joe Pavelski Hardest Shot: Victor Hedman Accuracy Shooting: Sebastian Aho [...]
Happy All-Star break all! We’ve made it to the halfway point so to speak in the season. Whether or not you’re a fan of the all-star game and skills competitions (most likely age dependent) is one thing, but I do think the All-Star Game is a great snapshot of who mattered in each season. If [...]
We have finally hit that mid-season break moment where some of the NHL’s best players go hang out for a few days and compete for glorious prizes. This mark at the season tends to be viewed as sort of the unofficial and not actually halfway point of the season so I wanted to take a [...]
The Anaheim Ducks have named Pat Verbeek as their new general manager. He will need to quickly decide whether the Ducks (currently occupying the #3 seed in the Pacific Division) should continue their playoff push or attempt to sell off UFAs-to-be Rickard Rakell, Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson, and maybe even longtime Duck Ryan Getzlaf. It’s [...]
Here are the top skaters to own in your points-only dynasty leagues - February edition! As always, players with a rating within +/-5.0 of each other should be considered equal value. Players are ranked based on upside, 3YP (three-year average of likely future peak seasons in the NHL), proneness to injury, current season's pace, strength [...]
With the NHL still placing players into the COVID-19 protocol, and with the number of injuries that have taken place this season I figured it may be best to release a second part to the article that was published last week. Mix that with the amount of players that are doing exceptionally well this year, [...]
There was news that Ville Heinola was sent down to the AHL on Wednesday but we need to remember that the All-Star break is at hand. There is no need to keep the young guys on the roster and the taxi squad has been dissolved. We will see if he gets called back up after [...]
