The Panthers made a great move today in signing Peter DeBoer as their head coach. He is very structured and will have them playing as a team by January. Don't expect big points from your Panthers, though. He preaches defense. Although his top line will see plenty of points, as he leans heavily on them. [...]

It looks as if the Coyotes have given up on Radim Vrbata. It would seem that Vrbata is negotiating based on his first half - whereas the Yotes are negotiating based on the entire season. Vrbata will be a UFA, and if I were you I would quietly shop him. His situation in Phoenix was [...]

An In-Depth Keeper Hockey League

Welcome once again to “An Expert’s Audit”. This audit will also be posted here as well as on my fantasy hockey blog at www.fantasyhockey.hockeyanalysis.com . During the season I also do weekly reviews of teams for people who email in to me for a look-see. These audits will continue to appear here monthly and if you’re interested in having your keeper team “worked over” then you can begin by emailing Dobber about it.

I’ve been emailing back and forth with Paul Miller about his hockey team for going on three seasons now. When I first looked at his league it scared the crap out of me because it seemed so convoluted when you add the salaries and the expiring contracts and stuff like that but once you get your feet wet then it all ain’t so bad. Let me encourage the rest of you to dive right into some in-depth league and have a blast with it. If you’re going into a league like this one then you should review my last two month’s submission to “An Expert’s Audit” for a few extra pointers on how to stay afloat in a salary league.

It's official - Michel Leighton will back up Cam Ward in the fall after the Canes signed him to a two-year, one-way deal this morning. He'll be an excellent addition as a third goalie on your team. Ward is still prone to slumps.  The Red Wings have given coach Mike Babcock a three-year extenstion. Pavel Brendl [...]

The 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver are still almost two years away, but the projections and predictions for Canada’s roster have began to circulate. All of the hockey experts love to try and guess what the team will be, but this article will not do that. I am going to project the best possible lineup (i.e. mine) that gives Canada the best shot at earning the gold.

With the 2008 NHL entry draft just a few weeks away we can look back to the past to see which areas of past NHL entry drafts were typically strong and you’ll be certainly be surprised to see which areas have been shockingly weak.

Someone in the forum wondered if I was implying that Bergeron will somehow replace Burns in my ramblings below. I didn't imply that at all. I said that it could hurt Brent Burns, which is true. If Burns' power-play time is reduced by one single second per game as a result of this - than [...]

Alexei Yashin led the RSL in postseason scoring, beating Morozov (but playing six more games). It is interesting to note that future Maple Leaf Nikolai Kulemin had 29 penalty minutes in just 11 postseason contests. He could offer value in a few categories next season... it would seem. Big news here, for those of you who trusted [...]
