 Miro Satan

Now that the dust from the UFA season has pretty much settled, many of the rosters around the league are beginning to take form. There is still one big fish left in the open market (Mats Sundin), but who knows when he will decide whether he wants to eat poutine or sushi next season. There are numerous players whose fantasy values have risen and fallen based on what has happened since July 1st. Here are a few of the players who will benefit from new situations or teammates.

Martin Hanzal will have surgery this week on a herniated disk in his back. He will reportedly have enough time to recover and rehab by the start of training camp. Kudos to MikeD in the forum for digging this up.  The Penguins have signed unrestricted free agent Bill Thomas. As a goal-scoring winger, he has [...]

 Ryan Miller

Complacency breeds inconsistency - a lesson Ryan Miller was forced to learn the hard way last year. Don’t get me wrong, he played remarkably well, even heroic at times. But with no big guns in the lineup, he found out exactly what level of work ethic and focus it actually takes to carry a mediocre team for an entire season. Nevertheless, a vital lesson was learned, and it is with this “transition” year under his belt that I feel Miller is primed to have a great fantasy season.

Peter Forsberg will need at least several months to rehab his foot, once again throwing into doubt whether or not he can even play 40 games next season. Dallas coach Dave Tippett has been extended for two years.  The Islanders have fired Ted Nolan. He did not get along well with his GM (again), but kept a [...]

The Senators have signed rearguard Brendan Bell. I found confirmation that Krog has indeed signed with Vancouver. His contract in the KHL has been cancelled. He is a dark horse for 55 points on the second line, but he needs to play on the second line.Branislav Mezei has signed to play in Europe next season. The Boston [...]

Welcome once again to “An Expert’s Audit”. This audit will also be posted here as well as on my fantasy hockey blog at www.fantasyhockey.hockeyanalysis.com . During the season I also do weekly reviews of teams for people who email in to me for a look-see. These audits will continue to appear here monthly and if you’re interested in having your keeper team “worked over” then you can begin by emailing Dobber about it.

Defenseman Steve McCarthy has signed to play in the KHL.  DobberHockey's Jeff Angus is reporting the Canucks have signed AHL star Jason Krog to a one-way contract, meaning he'll finally get another chance in the NHL. He needs an extended, lengthy shot on the second line and if he gets one he bears watching.  Goodbye Jozef [...]
