From my ramblings on October 15th: "I predict that Filatov will play 10 minutes in his NHL debut and score one goal". He played 9:10 and did, indeed, score that goal. (goal footage below) Pascal Leclaire will miss next game with a thumb injury. He left last night with five minutes left. The injury seems minor, [...]

This seems to happen to one player every year and it results in that players absense for at least two months. This year's lucky winner is Chris Mason. He underwent emergency an appendectomy last night. Look for Ben Bishop to get recalled. I felt that the Blues should have went with Bishop in the first [...]

Hockey is in full swing which means injuries are coming fast and furious as well. Finding injury replacements is a key component to a successful fantasy year. It can be depressing using Todd White to replace Alfredsson but every point you can get out of an injury replacements might make a difference in the end. Although nothing can make waiver wire players into fantasy studs you might be able to squeeze a few more points out of your those borderline second or third liners if you consider the team's schedule.

Is it too early to assess how the the Blueshirts are doing now that the Lone Ranger has ridden off into the sunset (Jaromir Jagr - Kontinental Hockey League) along with his trusty Czech mate Tonto (Martin Straka – Czech Extraliga)?

It's a rare night when three players score their first career NHL goals in the same game. Last night Brunnstrom, Hornqvist and Jones did it. The last time three players did this was in October of 2005. If you can tell me, in the NHL Rumors/ Discussion section of the forum, who the three players [...]

Welcome once again to “An Expert’s Audit”. This audit will be posted here as well as on my fantasy hockey blog . During the season I do weekly reviews of teams for people who email in to me for a look-see, they’re less indepth but just as much fun. Dobber audits will continue to appear here monthly and if you’re interested in having your keeper team “worked over” then you can begin by emailing Dobber about it.

It’s not easy to make it in the NHL, it’s a big step up from junior hockey and the American Hockey League. So it’s not unusual for players to struggle as rookies and then take a big step up during their second season once they know what to expect and have made the necessary adjustments to their play and approach to the game. Here are nine sophomore players who seem to have adjusted very well to the NHL since they are off to very nice starts this season.

What did I tell ya? What have I been saying for over a week now? If you didn't have faith in Dobber before, you do now - the Jackets have placed Boll on IR and have recalled Nikita Filatov. I predict that Filatov will play 10 minutes in his NHL debut and score one goal.  Tampa [...]

The first week of the 2008-09 NHL season has come and gone.  Let’s take a look at what has occurred during the opening week in the Western Conference and perhaps a little foresight into what could happen down the road.

The Isles sent Blake Comeau to the minors The Isles also announced that they will be without three defensemen for a few weeks - Radek Martinek is the latest casualty (upper body injury). Chris Campoli (shoulder) and Andy Sutton (hand) remain sidelined. This is an opportunity for Hillen and Gervais to really step up.   Viktor Kozlov left [...]
