The Preds are making preperations in case Radulov goes. They are speaking to Glen Murray, Mark Parrish, Martin Gelinas and Jan Hlavac. They are also talking trade.  The NHL is hoping that the IIHF bans Radulov's KHL team from participating in the Champions Hockey League, an IIHF-sponsored event for the best teams in Europe. According [...]

Correction below - Filpulla's deal was for five years, not three as I originally wrote.  The Sens have signed Antoine Vermette to a two-year deal worth $5.525 million  In a funny slap in the face to Leafs management, Scotty Bowman will be a Senior Advisor, Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks.  His son Stan is the [...]

Nashville rearguard Ville Koitinen was awarded a one-year deal worth $700K Because of the Bouchard signing, the Wild are able to buy out contracts for 48 hours and they decided to buy out Mark Parrish, placing him on waivers yesterday. Tomorrow is decision day (apparently) for Mats Sundin. I'm thinking Vancouver or retirement. He has a good [...]

Calder Contenders for 2008 – Part One

Patrick Kane winning the Calder last year was not much of a surprise, as the Black Hawks didn’t hesitate to make him the first overall selection in 2007. Many are predicting the same outcome this year with first-overall pick Steven Stamkos in Tampa Bay. While Stamkos is the odds-on favorite to win the Calder, he will have to beat out a fantastic rookie crop to join Kane as back-to-back top pick winners. Here are some of the other rookies...

According to a translation of an article in allhockey.ru, Alexei Yashin has re-signed a deal with Yaroslav Lokomotiv of the KHL. Do not expect him back in the NHL. Thanks to fzusher in our forum for pointing the way. Nashville's Colin Wilson, ranked 134 on my Fantasy Prospects List, has opted to return to Boston University [...]

Tampa Bay signed Steven Stamkos to a three-year deal worth just over $3.5 million per season if he reaches his bonuses. I expect him to tally around 70 points this season. The Panthers have signed Jay Bouwmeester to a one-year deal worth $4.875 million. Now that his salary is established, they can move him. The Rangers have [...]

In 2007 the team that underwent the biggest transformation was Philadelphia – by a long shot. A lot of experts still picked them to miss the playoffs (for the record, in Dobber’s 2006-07 Fantasy Guide I picked the Flyers to get in), but we all saw what happened. Not only did they get in, but they also went to the semi-final.

This year the team that has made the biggest strides is the Tampa Bay Lightning. This team took Philadelphia’s formula for success and, well, they butchered it.
