With the draft coming up, most people tend to focus on who is being drafted and have considerably less knowledge about who is doing the drafting. Many of the organizations have changed over the last few years, however, I plan to single out the decision makers on each team and see how they've done recently. I'm going to focus on the most recent drafts (2005-2008) only. The teams will be listed in alphabetical order and ranked from A+ to F. The Top 15 teams are graded between an A+ to a C+, while the bottom 15 receive a C to an F. The teams are presented in alphabetical order with four articles each to be published prior to the draft. Please note: This is not an assessment of each team's current prospects but an examination of the people currently doing the drafting and how well each of those people have done in recent drafts.

The most sought after free agent this summer is far and away Jay Bouwmeester. He is the new-age UFA. Only 25 years old (he doesn't turn 26 until September), Bouwmeester is just starting to scratch his potential, and he already is one of the most dominant two-way defensemen in the league. Where will he end up next season?

Takes me back to my NHL94 Days… June 05, 2009

A deal rumored for some time now, the Thrashers re-signed Anssi Salmela to a multi-year extension. I'm unsure if it's a two-way or one-way deal, but Don Waddell indicated that he would be part of their seven-defenseman group, so he won't start the year in the AHL. He is a dark horse candidate for 40 [...]

It’s been so long since the end of the regular season, you may have thought that I had forgotten about writing a summary of what transpired in Dobber’s top tier of his three-tiered pools.  Not so.  I don’t take losing well and just received clearance from my doctor to finally take a look back and analyze what went so horribly wrong.

Stanley Cup Final (no s) – June 04, 2009

The Fantasy Prospects Report is now available in your Downloads section.  Evgeni Malkin has 21 points in his last 10 games. These are tight playoff games, mind you, not loosey-goosey regular season games. Now try and tell me that when he hits his prime in three or four years that he won't get 150 points. [...]

Malkin – 146 points this year – June 03, 2009

The Fantasy Prospects Report is now available in your Downloads section.  Yahoo! is suing the NFLPA for threatening them with a lawsuit if they don't pay royalties for player names and statistics. The NFLPA is doing this despite the fact that fantasy baseball site CBS won a similar case already. Without fantasy sports, regular sports [...]

The Stanley Cup Final is well underway as it appears that the Red Wings are looking like they will repeat as Stanley Cup champions once again. We still have some unfinished business to take care of, so we’ll do a quick assessment of the Blackhawk players with fantasy significance and take a look at what could be in store for them next season.

Two Steps Away

 Huet

Cristobal Huet seemingly took a giant step forward last summer when he signed a deal with the Blackhawks that is set to pay him 5.625 million each of the next three seasons. That led many of us to draft him higher than usual, and for good reason. He was a late-season stud in Washington butting heads for ice time against a feeble, somewhat banged up Russian. Expecting Huet to win 25 games and start close to 50 was completely realistic.
