Perry vs. the World

Perry

I am starting to notice a trend forming here at DobberHockey. And whenever I see that I immediately backpedal to take stock of the situation and prepare to take advantage of it. Many of the experts, myself included (feel free to debate the validity of my expert status another time) have Corey Perry pegged for a fall. There is a lot of evidence for this assertion but it is very important to consider just how to use that to your advantage. That's why this week's Cage Match is not your typical Cage Match. It is not player vs. player. Instead it is Corey Perry against the World, because that is what it is starting to feel like.

The Jackets have locked up Fedor Tyutin for six years. The cap hit for the deal is about $4.5 million. Solid defenseman... but six years? Ties into my point below regarding Columbus and the roster turnover very well...   Some not so great news out of Edmonton – Ryan Whitney has re-aggravated the foot [...]

The Ultimate Fantasy Pool – Vegas Edition Part III

LV

In a little over one week, I’ll be heading off to Vegas for some fun. One reason I am heading down is to meet up with several members of the Ultimate Fantasy Pool – a keeper league that uses head-to-head scoring. I have been in the league for two years now, and it features some stiff competition (all of our league members read this site, and one is among the regular columnists).

Over the next few weeks, I am going to introduce the league and each of the 12 teams to the DobberHockey readers. The final four teams today – Wu Crew (Jake), Fire on Ice (Bill), and Las Vegas Thunder (Bret).

Once again, much like last year, here’s a list of players who just don’t tickle my fancy. There are a variety of reasons, ranging from my dislike of some players, changes to the team during the off-season, recovery from off-season surgery, overvalued rookies/prospects, or just plain over-inflated stats from last season.

But first a recap of the hit or misses for the players listed from last season’s column:

An interesting read on Claude Lemieux’s new role in the hockey world – he’s been working with a few clients of Rich Winter, most notably Cody Hodgson.   I am cautiously optimistic regarding Hodgson this year. There have been many reports of an improved relationship with the team (whatever issues were there appear to [...]

Welcome to the GoaliePost

goalie post - sample chart

It is with great honor that I announce today as the grand re-opening of the GoaliePost website. The latest addition to the Dobber Sports Network also completes the transformation of my School of Block column into a new column, one that reveals the wide array of fantasy goalie weapons you’ll find at GP.

I call this new column the GoaliePost to honor the alliance and pact that was created between three comrades - Dobber, Goldman and Hillen – back on March 25. What was the purpose of this joining of forces, you ask? To make you a better poolie by providing you with an advanced set of fantasy goalie tools you simply can’t find anywhere else.
