One hurdle passed - Sid the kid cleared for non-contact practice with his team. Keep an eye on who he skates with.   If I was picking second in a prospects draft from 2011 eligible players, my pick would be Ryan Strome. Love his situation in Long Island. Won't play there this year, but [...]

Tyler Myers is a stud defenseman, but seven years at a cap hit north of $5 million is a huge investment. Buffalo has some long contracts.... Look back seven years ago. Things can change a lot.   Zac Dalpe - snagged him third overall in my dispersal draft last week. Why do I like [...]

Roto

Welcome to the Roto Guide 2.0 (click here to read in PDF).

With puck drop under a month away and a new season upon us, it seemed like perfect time to take the opportunity to bring about the next chapter of the Roto list – extended categories. The Top 100 now officially features eight categories: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, Hits and Blocked Shots (BS).

Peter Mueller vs. Tomas Fleischmann

Mueller

Looking for the perfect sleeper pick? Me too, and I think I have it. I just need to narrow it down. Yahoo! has Peter Mueller and Tomas Fleischmann ranked excruciatingly low at 321 and 403 respectively. But here’s the question, which one do you pick? It is entirely possible that you just hold out until the last possible moment and grab whichever one happens to drop to you but if you are fortunate (or unfortunate enough) to have to make a choice you will have to narrow it down. That is why this week’s Cage Match is Mueller vs. Fleischmann for the Golden Pillow Award. Oh and please excuse the EMTs, our lawyers (yeah we have lawyers) told us we couldn’t do this Cage Match without them.

Fantasy Guide is now updated. Including: the Experts League Draft analysis. Buy it here!   My fantasy mailbag over at THN is back today. Find it here.   Injury news: Ales Hemsky and Ryan Whitney are not 100% yet. It still sounds like both will be ready for the season opener, but both will [...]

Eriksson

Over the course of the last few weekends I participated in a few Yahoo! mock drafts to gain a better grasp of what’s been going on in the “real” fantasy hockey world. I thought I’d pass my findings onto you Dobberities. I participated in random drafts ranging from eight to 14 teams from H2H to Roto leagues with standard settings. This is what I have concluded.

Fantasy Guide will be updated today … and then the frequency of updates increases dramatically. As in every two days. The news, roster cuts, etc etc will be coming fast and furious and good ol’ Dobber will be on them like a fat kid on a Smartie.   Concussion symptoms have prevented Colorado prospect [...]

quick

Jonathan Quick was arguably the most undervalued fantasy goaltender last season. He entered training camp as the “not-so-clear-cut” starter in LA, but put pundits in their place by winning 35 games (the league-high was 38), posting a 2.24 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage and six shutouts. Considering he did all of this in just 61 games, those numbers were pure, unexpected fantasy gold.
